Stapf ex Holmes, an essential and critically endangered medicinal plant from Kashmir Himalayas, was studied for its antioxidant and antifungal properties. The shade-dried powdered rhizome was extracted sequentially with hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. These subsequent fractions were evaluated for total phenolic content (TPC); total flavonoid content (TFC); antioxidant assays, such as 1,1-diphenyl 1-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH); ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP); superoxide radical scavenging (SOR); hydroxyl radical scavenging (OH) and antifungal activity using the poisoned food technique.

Mycoparasites cause serious losses in profitable mushroom farms worldwide. The negative impact of green mold () reduces cropping surface and damages basidiomes, limiting production and harvest quality. The goal of the current study was to evaluate new generation fungicides, to devise suitable management strategies against the green mold disease under prevailing agro-climatic conditions.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant growth regulator known for its functions, especially in seed maturation, seed dormancy, adaptive responses to biotic and abiotic stresses, and leaf and bud abscission. ABA activity is governed by multiple regulatory pathways that control ABA biosynthesis, signal transduction, and transport. The transport of the ABA signaling molecule occurs from the shoot (site of synthesis) to the fruit (site of action), where ABA receptors decode information as fruit maturation begins and is significantly promoted.

Plants often face incompatible growing environments like drought, salinity, cold, frost, and elevated temperatures that affect plant growth and development leading to low yield and, in worse circumstances, plant death. The arsenal of versatile compounds for plant consumption and structure is called metabolites, which allows them to develop strategies to stop enemies, fight pathogens, replace their competitors and go beyond environmental restraints. These elements are formed under particular abiotic stresses like flooding, heat, drought, cold, etc.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study investigated the effects of treated (TWW) and untreated wastewater (UTWW) on the nutrient concentrations in various parts of scented plant species over two years.
  • * Findings indicated that while TWW and UTWW increased certain nutrients (P, K, Ca, Na) in the plants, UTWW had higher harmful levels of metals and other compounds compared to freshwater, affecting nutrient absorption differently across plant parts.

Climate change (CC) is a global threat to the agricultural system. Changing climatic conditions are causing variations in temperature range, rainfall timing, humidity percentage, soil structure, and composition of gases in environment. All these factors have a great influence on the phenological events in plants' life cycle.

At present, the majority of APIs synthesized today remain challenging tasks for formulation development. Many technologies are being utilized or explored for enhancing solubility, such as chemical modification, novel drug delivery systems (microemulsions, nanoparticles, liposomes, etc.), salt formation, and many more.

Rice is a globally important crop and highly vulnerable to rice blast disease (RBD). We studied the spatial distribution of RBD by considering the 2-year exploratory data from 120 sampling sites over varied rice ecosystems of Karnataka, India. Point pattern and surface interpolation analyses were performed to identify the spatial distribution of RBD.

In the scheme of density functional theory (DFT), Structural, elastic, electronic, and optical properties calculations of GaBeCl and InBeCl are carried out using Tran-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson exchange potential approximation (TB-mBJ) installed in Wein2k software. Structurally the compounds of interest are found to be stable. Both compounds possess elastic stability, anisotropy, and ductility determined by the elastic studies.

Using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method, dependent on density functional theory, the simple cubic ternary fluoroperovskites XZnF (X = Al, Cs, Ga, In) compound properties, including structural, elastic, electronic, and optical, are calculated. To include the effect of exchange and correlation potentials, the generalized gradient approximation is applied for the optimization operation. This is identified, when we are changing the metallic cation specified as "X" when shifting to Al from Cs, the value of the bulk modulus is found to increase, showing the rigidity of a material.

Dietary food components have the ability to affect immune function; following absorption, specifically orally ingested dietary food containing lectins can systemically modulate the immune cells and affect the response to self- and co-administered food antigens. The mannose-binding lectins from garlic ( agglutinins; ASAs) were identified as immunodulatory proteins in vitro. The objective of the present study was to assess the immunogenicity and adjuvanticity of garlic agglutinins and to evaluate whether they have adjuvant properties in vivo for a weak antigen ovalbumin (OVA).

  • Ham (EN) is an under-researched medicinal plant with traditional uses for various illnesses, prompting a scientific investigation into its properties.
  • The study analyzed different fractions of Ham, discovering that the hydro-alcoholic crude extract (ENCr) had the highest levels of phenolics and flavonoids, as well as strong radical scavenging and enzyme inhibitory activities.
  • The findings suggest that EN could be a valuable resource for developing evidence-based herbal medicines, although it showed little effectiveness against certain enzymes like butyrylcholinesterase and carbonic anhydrase.

Rice-wheat (RW) rotation is the largest agriculture production system in South Asia with a multifaceted role in maintaining the livelihood of people. The customary practices and indiscriminate use of synthetic fertilizers have culminated in the decline of its productivity and profitability during the past two decades, thus affecting the sustainability of wheat. Safe Rock Minerals (SRM) is a multi-nutrient rich natural rock mineral with great potential to manage soil degradation, reducing the input of fertilizers, improving soil fertility, and plant health.

Understanding reproduction is essential for controlling pests and supporting beneficial insects. Among the many factors allowing optimal reproduction, sperm availability is key to sex ratio control in hymenopteran parasitoids since males are haploid and only females come from fertilization. (Hymenoptera; Braconidae) is a solitary endoparasitoid of some noctuids.

Brassinosteroids (BRs) have emerged as pleiotropic phytohormone owing to their wide function in crop growth and metabolism. Homobrassinolide (HBR) being an analogue of BRs is known to improve the growth, yield and quality parameters in many crop plants. Thus, an evaluation study was conducted for two years (2018 and 2019) to elucidate the performance of tomato plants ( L.
