Azo-Linked Porous Organic Polymers for Selective Carbon Dioxide Capture and Metal Ion Removal.

The facile and environmentally friendly synthesis of porous organic polymers with designed polar functionalities decorating the interior frameworks as an excellent adsorbent for selective carbon dioxide capture and metal ion removal is a target worth pursuing for environmental applications. In this regard, two azo-linked porous organic polymers denoted man-Azo-P1 and man-Azo-P2 were synthesized in water by the azo-linking of 4,4'-diaminobiphenyl (benzidine) and 4,4'-methylenedianiline, respectively, with 1,3,5-trihydroxybenzene. The resulting polymers showed good BET surface areas of 290 and 78 m g for man-Azo-P1 and man-Azo-P2, respectively.

Interrelationship of milk acute-phase proteins and casein percentage in cows and buffaloes subclinical mastitis.

A total number of 62 clinically healthy dairy animals of three farms located in Kafr El Sheikh governorate, Egypt, were subjected to field screening surveys of subclinical mastitis (SCM) using California mastitis test (CMT). The obtained results revealed that 38.80% of quarter milk samples were positive to CMT.

High dose methotrexate (HDMTX) is an essential agent in chemotherapeutic regimens used in various hematological malignancies in Egyptian adults. The research for the impact of gene polymorphism on HDMTX induced toxicities and delayed elimination is an important ongoing objective in many studies, variable and conflicting results produced in the past years to clarify that impact. This study aimed to investigate the role of ABCB1 3435 C > T rs1045642 and MTHFR 677 C > T rs1801133 polymorphisms on HDMTX induced toxicity outcomes and delayed elimination in Egyptian adult patients with hematological malignancies.

An Open Prospective Study on Whether Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) Offers a Better Outcome Than Conventional Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).

Objective To differentiate the in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes between the two procedures, intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) in terms of relation to chemical pregnancy percentage, clinical pregnancy, live birth, miscarriage, and fertilization rates, respectively. Patients and methods This Open Prospective clinical trial was conducted during the period between Jan 2016 and Dec 2017 at one IVF unit. A total of 446 ICSI cycles and 79 IMSI cycles were conducted.

Drug-naïve Egyptian females with migraine are more prone to sexual dysfunction than those with tension-type headache: a cross-sectional comparative study.

Headache is one of the chronic disorders that can trigger sexual dysfunction due to complex mechanisms. This study recruited 120 consecutive patients from our outpatient clinics with migraine (n = 60), TTH (n = 60) as well as healthy age-matched controls (n = 60) for a total of 180 patients. All the participants were evaluated by the Arabic version of the female sexual function index (ArFSFI: 19 items), the abridged 5-item version of the international index of erectile function (IIEF-5), hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS: 14 items), visual analog scale (VAS) score, and the headache impact test questionnaire (HIT-6TM: 6 items).

Holmium Laser Enucleation Versus Bipolar Plasmakinetic Resection for Management of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in Patients with Large-Volume Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: Randomized-Controlled Trial.

To compare the safety and efficacy of holmium laser enucleation of prostate (HoLEP) bipolar plasmakinetic resection of prostate (BPRP) in the management of large-sized (≥75 g) benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This randomized-controlled trial recruited 145 symptomatic BPH patients who had failed medical management, and who had undergone either HoLEP (Versa pulse 100 W;  = 73) or BPRP (AUTOCON II 400 ESU;  = 72). Both groups were compared using the Mann-Whitney, chi-square, Student-, or Fisher exact tests as appropriate.

Modulation format identification of optical signals: an approach based on singular value decomposition of Stokes space projections.

In this paper, two Stokes space (SS) analysis schemes for modulation format identification (MFI) are proposed. These schemes are based on singular value decomposition (SVD) and Radon transform (RT) for feature extraction. The singular values (SVs) are extracted from the SS projections for different modulation formats to discriminate between them.

Evaluation of neoadjuvant gonadotropin administration with downregulation by testosterone prior to second time microsurgical testicular sperm extraction: A prospective case-control study.

Purpose: The aim of this prospective study was to determine whether there is a beneficial role of combining gonadotropin administration with testosterone downregulation in non-obstructive azoospermia patients prior to a second time microsurgical testicular sperm extraction after a negative one.

Methods: A total of 40 non-obstructive azoospermia men were recruited from a specialized IVF center from 2014 to 2016. Participants were divided equally into two groups: Group A was subjected to testosterone downregulation alone for 1 month and then combined with gonadotropin administration for 3 months prior to second time testicular sperm extraction; Group B (controls) underwent second time microsurgical testicular sperm extraction without prior hormonal therapy.

Background: Nipple discharge causes discomfort and anxiety to many women. Nipple discharge is most commonly associated with endocrine alterations and/or medications. These often result in duct ectasia and/or fibrocystic changes that may lead to discharge from one or several ducts.

Mediastinal thymoma invading the superior vena cava and the right atrium.

An 86-year-old male patient presented with a large mediastinal tumor. A needle biopsy was performed and revealed a diagnosis of invasive thymoma. Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography was performed in order to assess operability of the tumor.

Diagnosis of aortoenteric fistulas with CT angiography.

Purpose: To describe the diagnostic findings of primary and secondary aortoenteric fistulas (AEFs) at computed tomographic (CT) angiography in a cohort of patients known to have AEF and to correlate those findings with those from endoscopic gastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and surgery.

Materials And Methods: CT angiography was performed in nine patients with AEF. There were four men and five women aged 43-85 years (mean age, 67 years).

Evaluation of vascular complications of pancreas transplantation with high-spatial-resolution contrast-enhanced MR angiography.

Purpose: To retrospectively evaluate high-spatial-resolution contrast material-enhanced three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance (MR) angiography for assessment of vascular complications of pancreas allografts.

Materials And Methods: The institutional review board approved the study and waived the requirement for informed patient consent owing to the retrospective nature of the study with use of an anonymous-subject database. The study was HIPAA compliant.

Magnetic resonance urography for the assessment of potential renal donors: comparison of the RARE technique with a low-dose gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance urography technique in the absence of pharmacological and mechanical intervention.

The aim of this study was to determine whether magnetic resonance urography without pharmacological (diuretic) stimulation and mechanical compression allows conclusive evaluation of the urinary system in potential renal donors. In 28 consecutive patients magnetic resonance urography (MRU) was performed on a 1.5-T system.

Contrast-enhanced MR angiography at 1.5 T after implantation of platinum stents: in vitro and in vivo comparison with conventional stent designs.

Objective: The objective of our study was to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo 3D contrast-enhanced MR angiography characteristics of a new platinum-based balloon-expandable stent system and compare this system with a variety of competing metallic stents.

Pancreatic pseudoaneurysm in a child with hereditary pancreatitis: diagnosis with multidetector CT angiography.

Pseudoaneurysm formation is a serious vascular complication of pancreatitis. It most commonly affects splenic and gastroduodenal arteries. We report a rare case of superior mesenteric artery pseudoaneurysm in a child with hereditary pancreatitis.
