A new series of benzo[h]quinoline-containing heterocycles was synthesized via reactions of benzo[h]quinolinyl-2(3H)-furanone with some nitrogen bidentate nucleophiles, leading to the formation of pyridazinone, pyrrolinone, benzimidazole, and benzoxazinone derivatives. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their insecticidal activity against Culex pipiens L. larvae.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assesses how combining various bioactive root-end filling materials with a composite bone graft influences healing in periapical tissues following endodontic microsurgery, using a triple-blinded clinical trial design.
  • 56 patients, aged 20 to 50 with specific dental issues, were randomly divided into two main groups based on root-end filling materials (MTA vs. TotalFill) and further split into subgroups with or without bone grafts.
  • After 12 months, the results showed no significant differences in healing or success rates across the groups, with no adverse effects reported.

As a result of its high reactivity, furan-2(3H)-one derivative 2 can be selected as a versatile and suitable candidate for building of novel nitrogen heterocyclic compounds. Consequently, furan-2(3H)-one derivative 2 and some nitrogen nucleophiles were utilized as starting materials for the formation of new pyridazinone and pyrrolone derivatives bearing naphthalene moiety. The continuous buildup of insecticide resistance is the main obstacle facing pest control measures.

Meiosis is a critical process in sexual reproduction, and errors during this cell division can significantly impact fertility. Successful meiosis relies on the coordinated action of numerous genes involved in DNA replication, strand breaks, and subsequent rejoining. DNA topoisomerase enzymes play a vital role by regulating DNA topology, alleviating tension during replication and transcription.

Objective: To evaluate histologically and radiographically the potential of dog's immature roots with apical periodontitis to regenerate after regenerative endodontic treatment using mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with/without bone morphogenic protein (BMP-2) as scaffolds.

Methods: In 4 mongrel dogs, 56 immature teeth with 96 roots were infected, resulting in necrotic pulps and periapical pathosis. According to the evaluation time (Group I = 30 days and Group II = 90 days), 90 roots were divided into two equal groups (45 roots each) and 6 roots used to replace any lost root during the procedure.

Objective: This study aimed to clinically compare the accuracy of bracket positioning between three-dimensionally (3D) printed indirect bonding trays and vacuum-formed trays made over 3D-printed models.

Material And Methods: Fourteen patients, planned for fixed orthodontic therapy, were randomly divided into two equal groups. For both groups, both dental arches were scanned, to acquire virtual models, brackets were virtually positioned from central incisors to second premolars, and scans for the final bracket positions were performed.

Some heterocycles bearing a benzo[h]quinoline moiety were synthesized through treating a 3-((2-chlorobenzo[h]quinolin-3-yl)methylene)-5-(p-tolyl)furan-2(3H)-one with four nitrogen nucleophiles comprising ammonium acetate, benzylamine, dodecan-1-amine, and 1,2-diaminoethane. Also, thiation reactions of furanone and pyrrolinone derivatives were investigated. The insecticidal activity of these compounds against mosquito larvae (Culex pipiens L.

Article Synopsis
  • Acetamiprid (ACDP) is a neonicotinoid insecticide effective in controlling fleas but has significant toxic effects on health, particularly on blood and organ function.
  • The study involved dividing 40 rats into four groups to assess the toxicological impacts of ACDP and the protective role of cinnamon nanoemulsions (CMNEs) over 28 days.
  • Results indicated that ACDP increased white blood cell counts while reducing red blood cells and overall body weight, but CMNEs helped restore these blood parameters and protected the liver from damage caused by ACDP.

Objectives: Effective disinfection of the root canals is the cornerstone of successful endodontic treatment. Diminishing the microbial load within the root canal system is crucial for healing in endodontically treated teeth. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 2780 nm Er,Cr:YSGG and 940 nm diode lasers on the eradication of microorganisms from single-rooted teeth with asymptomatic apical periodontitis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how ferrule thickness and post materials affect the fracture resistance of endodontically treated mandibular premolars.
  • It involved 64 extracted teeth divided into four groups based on ferrule thickness and restored with either glass fiber or titanium posts.
  • Results showed that thicker ferrules (up to 1.5 mm) significantly increased fracture resistance, while the type of post material did not have a notable impact.

In this study, we aimed to develop hybrid antitumor compounds by synthesizing and characterizing novel N-substituted acrididine-1,8-dione derivatives, designed as hybrids of phthalimide and acridine-1,8-diones. We employed a three-step synthetic strategy and characterized all compounds using IR, H NMR, C NMR, and LC-MS. The cytotoxicity and antitumor activity of five compounds (8c, 8f, 8h, 8i, and 8L) against four cancer cell lines (H460, A431, A549, and MDA-MB-231) compared to human skin fibroblast cells were evaluated.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progressive form (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis; NASH) are the main reason for chronic liver disease in the general population, characterized by fat accumulation in hepatocytes (steatosis) and anomalies in liver biochemical analyses. To date, no pharmacological agents have been approved for NAFLD or NASH treatment. However, silymarin, the active ingredient in milk thistle, has been used in the last decades for the treatment of several liver diseases.

Objective: To evaluate the degree of postoperative pain and rate of analgesic intake in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis in mandibular first molar teeth at 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h after using different irrigation activation techniques in single-visit endodontic treatment.

Methods: A total of 78 patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis with no signs of periapical pathology were randomly divided into 3 groups according to the final irrigation activation technique; Group XP-endo Finisher, Group Ultra X ultrasonic device, and Group side-vented needle. The teeth underwent standardised single-visit root canal treatment procedures using 2.
