Left Middle Phalanx Tuberculous Dactylitis Masquerading as a Tumor: First Case Report in Saudi Arabia.

Tuberculous dactylitis can cause osteomyelitis, which is a rare extrapulmonary manifestation of tuberculosis, often misdiagnosed due to its nonspecific presentation and resemblance to other conditions like neoplasms. A 15-year-old male patient reported to our clinic with a 1-year history of left index finger pain and swelling following a football-related injury. Despite conservative management, the symptoms had progressively worsened over the past few months.

Frontal lobe closed-lip schizencephaly as an atypical cause of adult-onset seizures.

Schizencephaly arises from irregular neuronal migration leading to clefts development in the cerebral cortex. The condition is often detected in childhood and it is extremely rare to go unnoticed. This case highlights a 45-year-old male with no previous medical history who presented with a seizure for the first time in the emergency department after which an MRI was done and detected schizcenphaly which at this point was the first time for the patient to be diagnosed with this condition.

Knowledge and Perception of Artificial Intelligence among Faculty Members and Students at Batterjee Medical College.

Background: Mounting research suggests that artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the innovations that aid in the patient's diagnosis and treatment, but unfortunately limited research has been conducted in this regard in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Hence, this study aimed to assess the level of knowledge and awareness of AI among faculty members and medicine students in one of the premier medical colleges in KSA.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at Batterjee Medical College (BMC), Jeddah (KSA), from November 2022 to April 2023.

An accidental finding of a retroperitoneal desmoid tumor: case report and review of the literature.

Retroperitoneal desmoid-type fibromatosis is a rare benign mesenchymal neoplasm that develops as a result of fibroblastic proliferation within the musculoaponeurotic stroma. The authors present the case of a 41-year-old male patient who was referred for a retroperitoneal neoplasm. A mesenteric mass core biopsy was done, and it revealed a low-grade spindle cell lesion consistent with desmoid fibromatosis.

CODAS syndrome (cerebral, ocular, dental, auricular, skeletal anomalies) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited multisystemic disease that carries an incidence rate of less than 1 in 1,000,000 children worldwide. It has an infancy, neonatal age of onset, characterized by deformities of the central nervous system, eyes, ears, teeth, and skeleton. A 1-year-old female of non-consanguineous parents, first time presented to our pediatrics clinic on November 6, 2021 when she was 4 months of age with developmental delay, as the patient could not support her head and made no eye contact on examination.

Over-the-Counter Medication Use among Parents in Saudi Arabia.

Introduction: Self-medication is a growing public health concern worldwide. Studies have shown a gap between best practice and the current practice of using over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Despite being a well-recognised problem in Saudi Arabia, few studies have investigated OTC medication use in Saudi Arabia.

The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on hand hygiene adherence among pediatric physicians, in Saudi Arabia.

Introduction: The hand hygiene practice (HHP) is the most effective and simplest preventive measure reduce the risk of infection. HHP is more relevant among pediatric physicians in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic since, children are more vulnerable to infection. Therefore, assessment of the COVID-19 impact on HHP could be useful in minimizing lethal virus transmission from pediatric physicians to patients and vice versa.

A case report of interventricular hemorrhage in William-Beuren syndrome.

Evaluation of Medical Students' Knowledge on Palliative Care: A Single Institution Cross-sectional Study.

Background: Palliative care is the branch of medicine which has a target of setting focus on the improvement of the quality of life of patients, particularly toward their end of life, such as cases of terminal diseases with low prognosis. Despite growing recognition of the importance of palliative care, a gap remains in medical education. Our study aims to evaluate the current level of knowledge of medical students in regard to palliative care.

A rare case of Kasabach Merritt Syndrome presenting with an infantile hemangioma: A case report.

Introduction: and importance: Infantile hemangioma, being a benign tumor of the blood vessel, is part of a triad composed of also thrombocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia as part of Kasabach Merrit Syndrome.

Case Presentation: We report the case of a 2 months old female Saudi infant referred due to respiratory distress, thrombocytopenia, and enlarging hemangioma on right upper chest, neck, and lower cheek. Diagnosis of kaposiform hemangioendothelioma complicated by Kasabach Merritt thrombocytopenia was done based on the clinical triad of thrombocytopenia, bleeding tendency, and the presence of a vascular tumor.
