Background Varicose veins (VV) are abnormally swollen, tortuous, and prominent veins caused by insufficient venous valves leading to venous congestion and elevated venous pressure. Prolonged standing at work has been proposed to be an important risk factor for varicose veins. Teachers are prone to have varicose veins due to prolonged standing.
