To synthesize aurone (Ar) derivatives and to demonstrate their effects against diabetes mellitus (DM) and neurodegeneration. Five Ar () derivatives were synthesized, characterized by proton NMR and screened for antioxidant, anti-diabetic and anti-cholinesterase activities. They were further evaluated for neuroprotective effects in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced neurodegenerative model.

There have only been limited studies that have assessed the attitude of Canadian physicians toward their own physical health. The aim of our study was to explore the self-reported health maintenance behavior and the predictors of health practices among physicians in a small-medium sized Canadian community. We used a descriptive mailed in self-report survey to contact all 649 physicians registered with the Essex County Medical Society, with a 36% response rate.

Multi-method modeling to predict the onset conditions and resonance of the piezo coupled thermoacoustic engine.

This article seeks to perform a combination of methodologies to fully model and evaluate the rudimentary performance of a thermoacoustic engine integrated with a piezoelectric energy harvester (TAP). First, the root locus method was employed to determine the critical design operating values of the thermoacoustic engine. Later, a lumped parameter model was developed as a matlab Simulink program to calculate the transient temperature and pressure responses of the thermoacoustic engine.

Overactive bladder: A multicenter study in Pakistan.

Objective: To determine the overall prevalence of overactive bladder in Pakistan, and to determine the difference in prevalence in relation to gender.

Methods: The multicenter study was conducted from February 2017 to October 2018 at 11 institutions across the country, and comprised randomly selected healthy subjects of either gender who were assessed on the basis of symptoms defined by the International Continence Society for overactive bladder. Data was collected using a questionnaire based on the symptoms which was filled for the respondent by designated health workers.

Exploring physician hand hygiene practices and perceptions in 2 community-based Canadian hospitals.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the self-reported hand hygiene practices and the predictors of hand hygiene among physicians in a midsize Canadian city.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey using self-report questionnaire administered to a complete list of 354 local physicians. Perception of proper compliance was defined in a participant if he/she indicated performance of hand hygiene before and after every patient contact at least 80% of the time.

Clinical results of the intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection with surgically retrieved sperms in azoospermic men at Sindh Institute of Reproductive Medicine, Karachi.

Objective: To analyse the result of intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) by using surgically retrieved sperms in the azoospermic male.

Methods: Eight (9 cycles) azoospermic men were given the intra-cytoplasmic sperum injection after sperms were collected through surgical retrieval either by percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) or testicular sperm extraction (TESE) at the Sindh Institute of Reproductive Medicine (SIRM), Karachi, which is an assisted reproductive technology centre.
