The Sauter mean diameter, , is a representative parameter in emulsions that indicates the average size of the oil droplets once the emulsion becomes stable. Several mathematical and physical approaches have been employed in the literature to seek expressions for under different conditions. The present work sheds light on this rich literature and emphasizes that the characterization of emulsions is still a fertile field for investigation.

Methods: ZERBINI was a multi-country, observational, retrospective/prospective study of subjects receiving evolocumab as part of routine clinical management of their hyperlipidemia.
Joining dissimilar sheet thicknesses of AA6082-T6 alloys by friction stir spot welding (FSSW) provides many advantages in automotive and aerospace applications. The formed keyhole at the end of the FSSW process is one of the typical features after the welding process, which owns the same size as the rotating pin that remains at the joint center. This keyhole destroys the joint continuity and can stimulate serious stress concentration when the FSSW joint bears an external force.

FSSW has been developed mainly for automotive applications where the different thickness sheets spot welding is essential. In the present work, different thin thickness sheets (1 mm and 2 mm) of AA6082-T6 were welded using FSSW at a constant dwell time of 3 s and different rotation speeds of 400, 600, 800, and 1000 rpm.

In this research article, we reported the synthesis of a series of new hybrid molecules through merging the structural features of chalcones and pyridothienopyrimidinones. Our results indicated that the synthesis of chalcone-thienopyrimidine derivatives from the corresponding thienopyrimidine and chalcones proceeded in a relatively short reaction time with good yields and high purity.

This study involved isolation of novel strain with high resistance against cyanide toxicity and able to degrade the cyanide radical. The strain was isolated from rocky area and identified as Sphingobacterium multivorium using 16S ribosomal RNA.

The current study's key originality is the development of low-cost, stable, superhydrophobic, and corrosion-resistant composite coatings. In the present work, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)/AlO composite coatings were produced using the spray technique to investigate the wettability and corrosion behavior of the coated materials for industrial and civil applications.

Patients And Methods: Patients who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumour for NMIBC were assessed for study eligibility. Urine and blood samples were taken from patients at baseline (immediately before first dose of induction) and after induction (4 h after last [sixth] dose).

Background: The marine algae are considered a diverse source of bioactive compounds. Many active compounds have been isolated from algae and show good biological activities.
Materials And Methods: The aim of this study is to detect the antiviral and anticancer activities in some extracts of marine algae.
This paper deals with the statistical inference of the unknown parameters of three-parameter exponentiated power Lindley distribution under adaptive progressive type-II censored samples. The maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) cannot be expressed explicitly, hence approximate MLEs are conducted using the Newton-Raphson method. Bayesian estimation is studied and the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method is used for computing the Bayes estimation.

The statistical literature contains very sophisticated distributions to analyze these kind of data sets. However, these distributions have many parameters which cause a problem in estimation step.

We compute the maximum likelihood estimations (MLEs) of (μ, λ) by applying the Newton-Raphson method (NRM) and expectation maximization algorithm (EMA). In addition, the estimate hazard functions and reliability are evaluated by applying the invariance property of MLEs.

It is assumed that the latent causes of failures have independent Chen distributions with the common shape parameter, but different scale parameters. From a frequentist perspective, the maximum likelihood estimate of parameters via expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm is obtained.

Radiological evaluation for electrode position has been studied yet without assessment of inner ear trauma, our objective is radiological evaluation of post cochlear implantation inner ear trauma MATERIAL AND METHODS: 20 patients with CI for pre lingual SNHL were included in this study. Cone beam CT (CBCT) was used for evaluation of electrode position and assessment of inner ear trauma.

Subthalamic nucleus (STN) and globus pallidus internus (GPi) are the commonly used targets for DBS in PD. Many studies have compared motor and non-motor outcomes of DBS in both targets.

Method And Results: The literature suggests that caffeine plays multiple roles in PD. Epidemiological studies showed that caffeine intake was associated with less risk of developing PD, especially in genetically susceptible patients.

The asymmetric unit of the title mol-ecular salt, C17H21N2O2S(+)·C14H15O7P2 (-), comprises two cations and two anions. Each cation features an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, which closes an S(6) ring; in each case the hydro-pyridine ring adopts a half-chair conformation. In the anions, the dihedral angles between the aromatic rings are 64.

Many bacteria detect their critical cell numbers through a mechanism known as quorum sensing (QS). Acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs) mediated QS systems have been shown to operate in important human pathogens. The aim of this study was to evaluate the inhibitory effect generated by zoosporic freshwater fungi on AHLs production.
