Gut Microbiota Diversity of Local Egyptian Cattle Managed in Different Ecosystems.

The animal gastrointestinal tract contains a complex microbiome whose composition ultimately reflects the co-evolution of microorganisms with their animal host and their host's environment. This study aimed to gain insights into the adaptation of the microbiota of local Egyptian cattle to three different ecosystems (Upper Egypt, Middle Egypt, and Lower Egypt) distributed across 11 governorates (with an average of 12 animals per governorate) using amplicon sequencing. We analyzed the microbiota from 136 fecal samples of local Egyptian cattle through a 16S rRNA gene sequencing approach to better understand the fecal microbial diversity of this breed which developed under different ecosystems.

Solvent-Free Synthesis of HKUST-1 with Abundant Defect Sites and Its Catalytic Performance in the Esterification Reaction of Oleic Acid.

HKUST-1 has received increasing attention because of its potential applications in many fields, such as heterogeneous catalysis, sensors, gas storage, and separation. Herein, we report that HKUST-1 can be facilely prepared by heating a ground mixture of copper nitrate trihydrate and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid in an autoclave at 80 °C for 10 h. The data from nitrogen sorption show that the obtained material, named HKUST-1-free, possesses a high BET specific surface area of 1671 m/g and a pore volume of 0.

Ejaculatory-sparing transurethral prostatectomy: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Introduction: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a prevalent urologic condition leading to lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Transurethral prostatectomy has been a cornerstone for surgical management of LUTS due to BPH. A growing interest has recently emerged to develop a surgical approach that can decrease the effect on sexual and ejaculatory functions while maintaining its efficacy in treating LUTS.

Tricuspid valve and right-heart chamber remodelling in elderly subjects with secondary tricuspid regurgitation.

Background: The prevalence of secondary tricuspid regurgitation (TR) increases with ageing, but the exact mechanisms and the pattern of tricuspid valve (TV) remodelling are yet to be defined. This knowledge is needed to guide patient selection for the evolving therapeutic options. We sought to explore the prevalence and predictors of secondary TR in the elderly, as well as the associated pattern of right-heart chamber and TV remodelling.

Trifecta in flexible ureteroscopy for treatment of renal and upper ureteral calculi: A multicenter study.

Purpose: To determine predictors for missing trifecta in patients who underwent flexible ureteroscopy (FURS) for treatment of renal and upper ureteric calculi.

Patients And Methods: The data of adult patients with renal or upper ureteral stones who underwent FURS from June 2021 through December 2022 were retrospectively reviewed. Stone-free status (no residual stones > 3 mm) was evaluated after 3 months with non-contrast CT.

A mesoporous Mo and N Co-doped TiO nanocomposite with enhanced photocatalytic efficiency.

This study reports the synthesis of a mesoporous Mo and N codoped anatase TiO nanocomposite with many oxygen vacancies using a simple one-step hydrothermal method and subsequent calcination treatment. Both Mo and N were effectively co-incorporated into the anatase phase of TiO without MoO phase segregation. The codoped catalyst demonstrated a mesoporous architecture with a surface area of 107.

DFT study, and natural bond orbital (NBO) population analysis of 2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-1-azaazulene tautomers and their mercapto analouges.

Theoretical research on the keto-enol tautomerization of 2-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)-1-aza azulene (2HPhAZ) and its thiol-thione (2MPhAZ) analouge has been performed using the density functional B3LYP method with the 6-311 +  + G(2d,2p) basis set in gas and ethanol phases. The findings of the MO computation on the energy scale and the prediction of the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) energies demonstrate that the tautomeric structures exist in a static mixture in the ground state, with the enol and thiol structure being more stable than the keto and thione structures in gas phase. The ethanol solvent causes some reordering of the relative stability of 2HPhAZ and 2MPhAZ conformers.

The Ideal Interval Between Repeated Shockwaves Lithotripsy Sessions for Renal Stones: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

To assess the ideal interval between repeated extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) for renal stones. Eligible patients with a single renal stone ≤20 mm who required SWL were randomly assigned to one of three groups based on intervals between first and second sessions. Patients underwent the second session after 3, 7, and 14 days in Groups 1, 2, and 3, respectively.

A density functional theory study of the molecular structure, reactivity, and spectroscopic properties of 2-(2-mercaptophenyl)-1-azaazulene tautomers and rotamers.

Five stable tautomer and rotamers of the 2-(2-Mercaptophenyl)-1-azaazulene (thiol, thione, R1, R2, and R3) molecules were studied using density functional theory (DFT). The geometries of the studied tautomer and rotamers were fully optimized at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. Thermodynamic calculations were performed at M06-2X/6-311G++(2d,2p) and ωB97XD/6-311G++(2d,2p) in the gas phase and ethanol solution conditions modeled by the solvation model based on density (SMD).

Effect of bismuth doping on the crystal structure and photocatalytic activity of titanium oxide.

The doping of TiO with metals and non-metals is considered one of the most significant approaches to improve its photocatalytic efficiency. In this study, the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO) was examined in relation to the impact of Bi-doping of TiO. The doped TiO with various concentrations of metal was successfully synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and UV-vis spectroscopy.

Ab initio calculations on structure and stability of BN/CC isosterism in azulene.

Herein, we investigated the thermodynamic stability and opto-electronic properties of a newly BN-doped azulene. The gas-phase formation enthalpies of 11 BN-doped azulene were calculated by the atomization energy method using three computational models (CBS-APNO, CBS-QB3, and G3MP2). The results suggest that AZ-1N9B exhibits the highest stability among the studied isomers.

Subjects And Methods: This is a retrospective study that included 87 patients who underwent onabotulinumtoxin A intradetrusor injection from October 2011 to November 2019. Patients were followed up at 2, 4, and 12 weeks post intervention in the outpatient clinic and over the phone.

Yet, the possibility of drug manipulation makes it a less challenging situation compared to treating patients with uncorrectable bleeding tendency. Herein, we aim at evaluating the outcomes of XPS™-180 W GL-LP for treatment of BPH in patients who had uncorrectable bleeding tendency due to hepatic dysfunction.

This work aimed to evaluate in vitro DNA binding mechanistically of cationic nitrosyl ruthenium complex [RuNOTSP] and its ligand (TSPH) in detail, correlate the findings with cleavage activity, and draw conclusions about the impact of the metal center. Theoretical studies were performed for [RuNOTSP], TSPH, and its anion TSP using DFT/B3LYP theory to calculate optimized energy, binding energy, and chemical reactivity. Since nearly all medications function by attaching to a particular protein or DNA, the in vitro calf thymus DNA (ctDNA) binding studies of [RuNOTSP] and TSPH with ctDNA were examined mechanistically using a variety of biophysical techniques.

Wide Nematogenic Azomethine/Ester Liquid Crystals Based on New Biphenyl Derivatives: Mesomorphic and Computational Studies.

The thermal stability and mesomorphic behavior of a new biphenyl azomethine liquid crystal homologues series, (E)-4-(([1,1'-biphenyl]-4-ylmethylene)amino)phenyl 4-(alkoxy)benzoate, In, were investigated. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized using FT-IR, NMR, and elemental analyses. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarized optical microscopy were employed to evaluate the mesomorphic characteristics of the designed homologues.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients who were operated on for simultaneous ureteral and renal stones from January 2011 to December 2020. Patients were divided into 2 groups: group A, who underwent one-stage URS and prone PCNL, and group B, who underwent staged procedures.

Objective: To examine the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients with prostate cancer managed with active surveillance (AS) compared with those who receive definitive treatment using the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite (EPIC) Survey.

Methods: We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and searched PubMed and ScienceDirect for articles published between April 2010 and April 2020. Eligible studies reported original data on the HRQoL of men undergoing AS for prostate cancer, including studies comparing AS to curative methods particularly radical prostatectomy, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.
