Background: The congenital abnormalities of eyes are a major cause of visual impairment throughout the world. Prevention of visual impairment due to congenital and infantile abnormalities of eyes is very important. The aim of this study is to evaluate the frequency and types of congenital ocular anomalies among patients with genetic disorders.

Recently, SF1 mutations were found to be a frequent cause of 46,XY disorders of sex development (DSD) in humans. We investigate the frequency of NR5A1 mutations in an Egyptian cohort of XY DSD.

The current study aimed to study the molecular characterization of the PTPN11 gene among Egyptian patients with Noonan syndrome.
Methods: Eleven exons of the PTPN11 gene were amplified and screened by single stranded conformational polymorphism (SSCP).
Mutations in the RNU4ATAC gene cause microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type I. It encodes U4atac, a small nuclear RNA that is a component of the minor spliceosome. Six distinct mutations in 30 patients diagnosed as microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type I have been described.
