View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe conversion efficiencies for silicon-based photovoltaic devices have become stagnant, with the record conversion efficiency of 26.7% achieved in 2017. This record efficiency is also close to the theoretical Auger limit of 29.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA ZnS/SiO photocatalyst was synthesized using a low-cost sol-gel wet chemical procedure. The as-synthesized ZnS/SiO nanocomposites with different molar ratios exhibited superior performance in the photodegradation of two organic dyes under UV irradiation, with complete degradation of both dyes after 2 hours of exposure to UV irradiation. The photocatalyst structure, microstructure, and surface area were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and nitrogen adsorption ( ) studies.

Herein, a novel designed heterogeneous catalytic system constructed of volcanic pumice magnetic particles (VPMPs), cellulose (CLS) as a natural polymeric matrix, and copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) is presented. Also, to enhance the inherent magnetic property of VPMP, iron oxide (FeO) nanoparticles have been prepared and incorporated in the structure an process. As its first and foremost excellent property, the designed composite is in great accordance with green chemistry principles because it contains natural ingredients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn this research, a novel magnetic nanobiocomposite was designed and synthesized in a mild condition, and its potential in an alternating magnetic field was evaluated for hyperthermia applications. For this purpose, in the first step, graphene oxide was functionalized with a natural lignin polymer using epichlorohydrin as the cross-linking agent. In the second step, the designed magnetic graphene oxide-lignin nanobiocomposite was fabricated by the preparation of magnetic FeO nanoparticles in the presence of graphene oxide functionalized with lignin.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFood contamination by foodborne pathogens is considered a serious problem worldwide. This study aimed to show the efficacy of the one-pot green biosynthesis of nanocomposites as effective antimicrobial agents based on a water-soluble biodegradable polysaccharide and silver nitrate (AgNO). Silver (Ag) nanoparticles were synthesized using different concentrations of AgNO solution (1, 2, and 3 mM) in the presence of -quaternized chitosan and ,,-trimethyl chitosan chloride (TMC) as both a reducing and stabilizing agent.

Here, a new composite of zeolitic imidazolate framework-67@magnesium aluminate spinel (ZIF-67@MgAlO) has been fabricated by a simple method at room temperature with different weight ratios. Several techniques such as FE-SEM, BET, XRD, and TGA have been used to confirm the structural characterization of the obtained materials.

The conditions of the grafting process onto sodium alginate were adjusted to obtain a grafted copolymer with a high percentage of poly(-vinyl imidazole). The prepared grafted copolymer sodium alginate (NaAlg--PVI), with high percentage yield, was investigated and characterized under certain conditions in order to detect its antibacterial effect.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFGraphene- and carbon-based nanomaterials are key materials to develop advanced biosensors for the sensitive detection of many biomarkers owing to their unique properties. Biosensors have attracted increasing interest because they allow efficacious, sensitive, selective, rapid, and low-cost diagnosis.
