Methods: The authors reviewed the hospital records between April 2020 and September 2021 and followed up on the patients for post-COVID complications.
Findings: Older adult patients were predominantly affected during the third wave, and middle-aged patients were predominantly affected during the first and second waves.
Background: A comprehensive study of the post-COVID syndrome (PCS) remains scarce in low-and middle-income countries. We assessed the prevalence, incidence rate, evolution over time, and risk factors of PCS among hospitalized (HS) and non-hospitalized (NHS) COVID-19 survivors.
Methods: We undertook a prospective longitudinal study of COVID-19 survivors at months 1, 3, and 5 post-discharge or post-isolation period.
Ten nests were collected from Kerachut and Teluk Kampi, Penang Island between 2 August 2009 and 9 December 2009, and each one nest was split into three small clutch sizes for incubation at three nesting depths (45 cm, 55 cm and 65 cm), with a total of 30 modified nests for this experiment. Three important objectives were formulated; to observe on the survival hatchings among the three nesting depths, to study on the effects of sand temperature on incubation period among the three nesting depths, and to investigate the influence of sand temperature on hatchling's morphology. Main result shows that the mean survival of the hatchlings was 25.

Most physicians have been developing various health hazards related to the use of different protective gears. This study aimed to determine the burden and spectrum of various health hazards associated with using masks or PPE and their associated risk factors.

Fish samples from the East and West coast of the country were obtained from fishermen (wild samples) and well-recognised climbing perch farmers in Kedah, Kelantan, Johor and Selangor. The Truss network method was applied to obtain necessary data and analysed to examine phenotypic variation between the cultured and wild stocks.

The simulator has the following characteristics: 1) the simulator is portable and easy to assemble and disassemble, 2) the cardiac portion is created using a 3D-printer, based on patient computed tomography data, 3) the simulator uses a foot-operated water pump to create pulsatile flow, and 4) the fossa ovalis in the atrial septum of the heart model is made of a thin polyurethane membrane and is interchangeable. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of this novel simulator for training in PTMC using the Inoue balloon in developing countries.

In this work, biosurfactants of bacteria isolated from oil-contaminated soil have been characterized. Four potent biosurfactant-producing strains (SD4, SD11, SD12 and SD13) were selected from 27 isolates based on drop collapse assay and emulsification index, and identified as species belonging to , , and , revealed from their 16S rRNA gene-based analysis.

However, it has had limited application in low permeability zones where amendments cannot be delivered successfully. This field-scale study investigated the application of electrokinetics to enhance the delivery of lactate at a clay site contaminated with chlorinated solvents.

Background: Globally, studies have shown conflicting results regarding the association of blood groups with SARS CoV-2 infection.
Objective: To observe the association between ABO blood groups and the presentation and outcomes of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This was a prospective cohort study of patients with mild-to-moderately severe COVID-19 infections who presented in the COVID-19 unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and were enrolled between 01 June and 25 August, 2020.
Identification of coronary artery disease by non-invasive means is a subject of interest for all. Myocardial strain has shown some promising results. This study intends to see if change in strain value correlates with the angiographic findings in patients with stable angina.

Groundwater is the primary source of drinking water in the camps that were constructed to provide shelter for the refugee population. The current study explores occurrence of Mn in groundwater in the Rohingya camps and adjacent areas.

Generally, the cytochrome P450s react with dioxygen and hence are haem-based mono-oxygenases; however, in specific isozymes, H2O2 rather than O2 is used and these P450s act as peroxygenases. The P450 OleTJE is a peroxygenase that binds long to medium chain fatty acids and converts them to a range of products originating from Cα-hydroxylation, Cβ-hydroxylation, Cα-Cβ desaturation and decarboxylation of the substrate.

Universal health coverage (UHC) depends on a strong primary health-care system. To be successful, primary health care must be expanded at community and household levels as much of the world's population still lacks access to health facilities for basic services. Abundant evidence shows that community-based interventions are effective for improving health-care utilization and outcomes when integrated with facility-based services.

However, its performance is often hindered in low-permeability or heterogeneous media due to an inability to effectively deliver the oxidants. This field-scale study investigated the novel approach of applying electrokinetics (EK) to enhance the delivery of persulfate in a low-permeability media and the ability of electrical resistance heating (ERH) to thermally activate the delivered persulfate.

Transport of CMC-S-nZVI to the monitoring wells, both downgradient and upgradient, resulted in a significant decrease in concentrations of aqueous-phase cVOCs. Short-term (0-17 days) total boron and chloride measurements indicated dilution and displacement in these wells.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTreatment of nano zerovalent iron (nZVI) with lower valent forms of sulfur compounds (sulfidation) has the potential to increase the selectivity and reactivity of nZVI with target contaminants and to decrease inter-particle aggregation for improving its mobility. These developments help in addressing some of the long-standing challenges associated with nZVI-based remediation treatments and are of great interest for in situ applications. Herein we report results from a field-scale project conducted at a contaminated site.

The routine use of pre-operative pre-incision radiographs for level check by spinal surgeons is variable due to reliance on this palpation. The anatomical violation of neighbouring normal levels in microscope assisted lumbar surgery is unknown.

Little is known about the situation in Bangladesh, where tobacco- and areca nut-related head and neck cancers (HNCs) are the most common cancers in men. We aimed to determine the prevalence of HPV in HNSCC in Bangladesh and to explore the possible value of cell cycle markers in clinical diagnostic settings.
