Acquired factor XIII (FXIII) deficiency is a rare disorder that could be associated with autoimmune and malignant disorders with a high risk of bleeding. In acute leukemias, acquired FXIII deficiency has been reported and replacement of FXIII helped to control significant bleeding. Here, we report four cases of myeloid neoplasms to have acquired FXIII deficiency with interesting concomitant RUNX1 mutation in the molecular background of two patients.

Synthesis of photo-responsive κ-carrageenan-based hydrogels for drug delivery application.

Natural polymer-based hydrogels may act as versatile platforms in controlled drug delivery. In this regard, photoactive κ-carrageenan (κ-Crg) hydrogels modified with cinnamate (CN) groups are developed for pH-sensitive release of drugs. κ-Crg-CN derivatives containing 17 %, 33 %, and 49 % cinnamate contents, named κ-Crg-CN1, κ-Crg-CN2, and κ-Crg-CN3, respectively, are prepared and cross-linked by UV-induced [2π + 2π] cycloaddition.

This present study tested the effects of novel synthetic β-lactam non-antibiotic drug, MC-100093, in chronic ethanol intake and neuroinflammatory and trophic factors in subregions of the NAc (NAc core and shell) and mPFC (Prelimbic, PL; and Infralimbic, IL) of male P rats.

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on transplant laboratories: How to mitigate?

A positive flow cytometry crossmatch (FCXM) due to donor specific antibodies (DSA) constitutes a risk for kidney transplantation; such a finding may indicates an unacceptable donor for this patient. However, positive FCXM in the absence of DSA is considered discordant and need further investigations. During COVID-19 pandemic, we observed 22% discordant results out of 445 FCXM performed during eight months period in our laboratory and another 7% were invalid due to high background negative control (NC).

These compounds were synthesized in good yields following a two-step protocol and characterized using multiple analytical techniques.

Neurobehavioral and inflammatory responses following traumatic brain injury in male and female mice.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of mortality and is associated with a high rate of functional comorbidities, including motor, cognitive, anxiety, depression, and emotional disorders. TBI pathophysiology and recovery are complicated and involve several mechanistic pathways that control neurobehavioral outcomes. In this study, male and female C57Bl/6 J mice were subjected to a controlled cortical impact model of TBI or sham injury and evaluated for different neurobehavioral and inflammatory outcomes over a month.

External validation of the Manchester Acute Coronary Syndromes ECG risk model within a pre-hospital setting.

Objectives: The Manchester Acute Coronary Syndromes ECG (MACS-ECG) prediction model calculates a score based on objective ECG measurements to give the probability of a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). The model showed good performance in the emergency department (ED), but its accuracy in the pre-hospital setting is unknown. We aimed to externally validate MACS-ECG in the pre-hospital environment.

Despite the widespread use of decision aids to 'rule out' TBI in hospitals, they are not widely used in the prehospital environment.

The work aimed to enhance chrysin (CHR) water solubility, dissolution, and in vitro antibacterial as well as cell viability. Chrysin binary, as well as ternary inclusion complex, were prepared using the spray drying method. The influence of an auxiliary component (poloxamer; PLX) was also assessed after being incorporated into the chrysin HP βCD complex (CHR-BC) and formed as a chrysin ternary complex (CHR-TC).

National research guideline for prehospital emergency medical care: A prospective Delphi-study.

Simultaneous Central Slip and Volar Plate Injuries at PIP Joint: A Novel Therapeutic Approach.

Background: Central slip and volar plate injuries rarely occur in the same finger, with only two cases previously reported in published literature.
