The burden of asthma among children and adolescents in Saudi Arabia: A national cross-sectional survey.

Background: Asthma disease is one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood. Studies assessing asthma prevalence in Saudi Arabia have been variable and not recently updated.

Objectives: We sought to assess asthma prevalence, severity, and related risk factors among children and adolescents in Saudi Arabia.

Prevalence of asthma symptoms and associated risk factors among adults in Saudi Arabia: A national survey from Global Asthma Network Phase Ⅰ.

Purpose: Estimating the prevalence and severity of asthma symptoms with standardized methods of population-based surveys is a critical step in reducing asthma burden. However, no sufficient surveys have been conducted in most countries of the Middle East especially at the national level. In this survey, we applied sound measures to estimate the prevalence and severity of asthma symptoms and related risk factors in adults in Saudi Arabia.

Factors associated with public awareness of the Crown Health Program in the Al-Jouf Region.

Objectives: A community-based intervention, the Crown Health Project (CHP), was developed by the Ministry of Health. It was implemented on a small-scale in Al-Jouf Region in Northern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to assess its feasibility and effectiveness so that it can be scaled up. This study primarily aimed at investigating factors associated with the awareness of CHP in order to improve subsequent campaigns for the program in Al-Jouf and other regions.

Cigarette smoking among female students in five medical and nonmedical colleges.

Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of smoking, knowledge about the ill effects of smoking on health, and the influence of family members' smoking habits among Saudi female students.

Methods: This is a type of cross-sectional study. A sample of 1,070 female students was selected by a nonrandom and convenient sampling method from five colleges (Medicine, Business and Administration, Computer Sciences, Education, and Languages and Translation) of King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
