Exploring cyclodextrin-driven advancements in aqueous Zn-ion battery: A review.

The growing demand for sustainable and efficient energy storage solutions has emphasized the value of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) as a safer and less expensive alternative to lithium-ion batteries. Despite their potential, AZIBs confront considerable obstacles, particularly the production of zinc dendrites and side reactions such hydrogen evolution, which limit their cycling stability and practical applicability. In this review, we explore the prospective function of cyclodextrins (CDs), a type of supramolecular carbohydrate polymer, in addressing such challenges.

Leveraging cross-view geo-localization with ensemble learning and temporal awareness.

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is unreliable in some situations. To mend the poor GNSS signal, an autonomous vehicle can self-localize by matching a ground image against a database of geotagged aerial images. However, this approach has challenges because of the dramatic differences in the viewpoint between aerial and ground views, harsh weather and lighting conditions, and the lack of orientation information in training and deployment environments.

Unilateral retinal venous beading.

Inherited retinal venous beading is a rare retinal vascular disorder that is characterised by tortuosity and beading of the retinal veins. This can potentially lead to vision-threatening complications such as vitreous haemorrhage, macular hard exudation and ischaemia. We report a case of sporadic unilateral retinal venous beading in an 18-year-old white man who was referred by his optician following a routine eye examination.

1-year outcomes of the Xen45 glaucoma implant.

Objectives: To describe the 12-month outcomes of the Xen45 glaucoma stent.

Methods: Non-comparative retrospective study of all cases who underwent Xen glaucoma surgery in April 2017 or earlier and completed 12 months of follow-up. The primary outcome measures were intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction and number of glaucoma medications at 12 months postoperatively.

Acuity and colour vision changes post intravitreal dexamethasone implant injection in patients with diabetic macular oedema.

Purpose: To evaluate changes in colour vision following intravitreal injection of Dexamethasone implant (Ozurdex) in patients with diabetic macular oedema (DMO). Both red-green (RG) and yellow-blue (YB) chromatic sensitivity were assessed using the Colour Assessment & Diagnosis (CAD) test which isolates the use of colour signals and provides age-corrected, statistical limits for normal trichromats. To determine whether colour changes and visual acuity (VA) post-treatment relate to central sub-field retinal thickness (CST).
