Background: Mitochondria-driven oxidative/redox stress and inflammation play a major role in chronic kidney disease (CKD) pathophysiology. Compounds targeting mitochondrial metabolism may improve mitochondrial function, inflammation, and redox stress; however, there is limited evidence of their efficacy in CKD.

Methods: We conducted a pilot randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial comparing the effects of 1200 mg/day of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) or 1000 mg/day of nicotinamide riboside (NR) supplementation to placebo in 25 people with moderate-to-severe CKD (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] <60mL/min/1.

Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally and presents significant challenges in Egypt. In 2023, the first annual meeting of the Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Faculty, organized by the Egyptian Cancer Research Network and the Egyptian Society of Respiratory Neoplasms, was held in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting aimed to address gaps in lung cancer management across Egypt and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.

Shiga toxin-producing is the most prevalent bacterial strain responsible for Shiga toxin-related infections. While Shiga toxin is inherently toxic, it has potential therapeutic applications as a component of anticancer drugs. Materials And Methods: Periodontally healthy subjects with prior cone beam computed tomography and intraoral scans for dental implant planning were included. The hard and soft tissue measurements were retrospectively analyzed digitally.

Impact of urgent care centers on emergency department visits in Al Madina Al Munawara: A pre-post study.

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of UCCs on reducing non-urgent Emergency Department (ED) visits and improving patient flow, focusing on metrics such as door-to-doctor time, doctor-to-decision time, and overall patient disposition.

Methods: This observational cohort pre-post study analyzed data from 198,050 ED visits to King Fahad Hospital, Al Madina Al Munawara between June 2021 and May 2023 and compared visit patterns before and after UCC implementation.

Results: Post-UCC implementation, the average door-to-doctor time decreased but was not statistically significant.

Background/objective: There is little data on infections of the genus Cosmocercoides Wilkie, 1930 in toad populations in Iran. Hence, the present study aims to report the first morphological description of the new genus Cosmocercoides Wilkie, 1930 (Ascaridida: Cosmocercidae) in Iranian toads (Bufotes surdus).

Methods: During the helminthological survey from October 2023 to December 2023, 10 specimens of Bufotes surdus were collected.

Savory (Satureja rechingeri L.) is one of Iran's most important medicinal plants, having low irrigation needs, and thus is considered one of the most valuable plants for cultivation in arid and semi-arid regions, especially under drought conditions. The current research was carried out to develop a genetic algorithm-based artificial neural network (ΑΝΝ) model able of simulating the levels of antioxidants in savory when using soil amendments [biochar (BC) and superabsorbent (SA)] under drought.

The separation of oil from microalgae aqueous emulsions is a critical step in producing algal-derived biofuels and nutraceuticals. This study presents the development of super hydrophilic and super oleophobic composite membranes to efficiently separate algal oil from oil/water emulsions. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were functionalized with polydopamine (PDA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and titanium dioxide (TiO) nanoparticles and coated onto a mixed cellulose ester (MCE) substrate to fabricate the composite membranes.

The diagnostic value of prolactin adjustment in bilateral inferior petrosal sinus sampling for differentiating Cushing's disease from the ectopic ACTH syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Adrenocorticotropin (ACTH)-dependent Cushing's syndrome can arise from a pituitary tumour (Cushing's disease) or an ectopic ACTH-secreting tumour, making precise differentiation essential for effective treatment. Bilateral inferior petrosal sinus sampling (BIPSS) is the gold standard for this differentiation, but false-negative results can limit its accuracy. Adding prolactin (PRL) measurement to BIPSS has been proposed to improve diagnostic precision.

Optimisation of railway tamping scheduling.

This research was devoted to optimising opportunistic tamping scheduling to present a cost-effective approach that considers both preventive and corrective tamping activities. To achieve this, we formulated the track geometry tamping scheduling problem as a mixed integer linear programming model and employed a genetic algorithm for its resolution. Cardiovascular involvements are one of the most important and threatening problems of SARS-CoV-2 infection and can cause a wide range of clinical manifestations in children. Therefore, a review of previous studies is necessary to prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular complications and reduce the risk of mortality in this age group of patients. To investigate the cardiovascular complications in children with COVID-19, international authoritative databases including PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Persian databases were searched using the main concepts, all articles were published between January 2020 and November 2022.

Investigating ethical considerations in the communication network of married women undergone hysterectomy: instrumentation of a questionnaire.

Introduction: Considering the importance of complying medical and general ethics and the lack of a study on determining ethical considerations in the communication network of women undergoing hysterectomy surgery, this study aimed to present these aspects in the patients' lives by a standard researcher-made instrument.

Method: This mixed method analysis (exploratory sequential mixed methods design was conducted in the whole of 2020 to create the "ethical considerations in communication network of women undergone hysterectomy" questionnaire and investigate its psychometric properties. A researched-made instrument was validated and its psychometric properties were checked among 218 women by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA).
