Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess COVID-19-related anxiety, and fear burden in diabetic patients, as a risk group for severe COVID-19.

Methods: A cross-sectional online survey conducted on 111 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients referred to a Diabetes clinics of Royan institute, and 155 healthy controls recruited from normal population using a snowball sampling technique. Article Synopsis
  • Sperm DNA integrity is essential for fertilization and embryo development, yet it is often not assessed in clinical settings; this study analyzed 1191 sperm samples to explore various factors impacting DNA fragmentation.
  • The findings revealed that older men tend to have higher sperm DNA fragmentation, with significantly elevated levels observed in spring and summer, and rural patients exhibiting more fragmentation than urban ones.
  • Notably, body mass index did not correlate with sperm DNA quality, and epileptic patients showed increased DNA fragmentation levels; overall, age was the strongest factor, with a consistent yearly increase in fragmentation observed between ages 19 to 59.

Obstructive azoospermia (OA), defined as an obstruction in any region of the male genital tract, accounts for 40% of all azoospermia cases. Of all OA cases, ~30% are thought to have a genetic origin, however, hitherto, the underlying genetic etiology of the majority of these cases remain unknown. To address this, we took a family-based whole-exome sequencing approach to identify causal variants of OA in a multiplex family with epidydimal obstruction.

Background: Several studies have assessed the correlation of fetal choroid plexus cyst (CPC) and the risk of congenital anomalies, but few ones have discussed isolated CPC (with no other abnormal sonographic finding).

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the outcome of isolated fetal choroid plexus cyst and to specify its clinical significance.

Materials And Methods: This cross sectional study was carried out at Royan Institute in Tehran, Iran, between April 2009 and December 2012.

In this study, fibroblast cells were stably transfected with mouse POU5F1 promoter-driven enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) to investigate the effect of S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH), the reversible non-toxic inhibitor of DNA-methyltransferases (DNMTs), at different intervals post-fusion on in vitro development of cloned bovine embryos. Treatment with SAH for 12 hr resulted in 54.6 ± 7.
