Background: Intermittent fasting has been reported to have positive effects on obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and several neurodegenerative diseases through different mechanisms such as alteration in the gut microbiota. This systematic review was conducted with the aim of providing an overview of the existing animal and human literature regarding the gut microbiota alterations in various fasting regimens.

Method: A systematic literature search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases up to May 2021 to find all relevant studies examining the gut microbiota alteration during the fasting.

Objectives: As the most prevalent endocrine system malignancy, papillary thyroid carcinoma had a very fast rising incidence in recent years for unknown reasons besides the fact that the current methods in thyroid cancer diagnosis still hold some limitations. Therefore, the aim of this study was to improve the potential molecular markers for diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules to prevent unnecessary surgeries for benign tumors.

Materials And Methods: In this study, 1H-NMR metabolomics platform was used to seek the discriminating serum metabolites in malignant papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) compared to benign multinodular goiter (MNG) and healthy subjects and also to better understand the disease mechanisms using bioinformatics analysis.

Background:: Thyroid carcinomas have comprised the fastest rising incidence of cancer in the past decade. Currently, the diagnosis of thyroid tumors is performed by the fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) method, which still holds some challenges and limitations, mostly in discriminating malignant and benign lesions. Therefore, the development of molecular markers to distinguish between these lesion types are in progress.

We aimed to present herein the case of a potentially preventable death involving traumatic aortic rupture and to develop a critical pathway for the management of isthmic aortic ruptures consistent with the available resources. A retrospective record review by a multidisciplinary panel of experts was done, and the probability of survival was estimated based on the Revised Trauma Score and Injury Severity Scale score. Literature review and expert consensus were used in a quality and safety analysis to develop a critical care pathway for future cases.

Objectives: To determine the most important knowledge sources that can influence clinical practice and to cluster them in conceptual groups based on their relative importance.

Methods: Faculty members, fellows and residents of a large teaching tertiary care hospital were asked to rate the importance of different resources in their daily clinical practice and their understanding of some common terms from evidence-based medicine. The knowledge sources were distributed in a two-dimensional map using multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis.

Background: Her-2/neu protein is a member of the epidermal growth factor family of receptors which, upon activation, contributes positively to the growth and dissemination of neoplasia. Over-expression of this protein has been reported in different human tumors and shown to be a valuable prognostic factor especially in breast cancer. A limited number of studies have also shown positive correlation between Her-2/neu over-expression and advanced tumor progression in colorectal cancer.
