Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify how blood test ratios, specifically neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), can predict the severity of complications from acute diverticulitis in emergency department patients.* -
  • A retrospective analysis was conducted on 225 patients over four years, revealing that higher NLR and PLR were significantly linked to more severe forms of diverticulitis (Hinchey classification 3-4).* -
  • The findings suggest that NLR and PLR can be valuable and easy-to-use tools in clinical settings for assessing patient severity, potentially improving emergency care management.*
