Focal Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is a rare chronic inflammatory condition of kidneys which usually is associated with postrenal obstruction or renal stone leading to chronic bacterial infection and eventually chronic glomerular inflammation. About 90% of cases are of the diffuse type and associated with staghorn renal calculi. The case presented in this paper is of the focal type in a 58-year-old diabetic female.

Materials And Methods: In this randomized clinical trial study from January 2009 to September 2010, 26 of 51 patients with renal stones underwent csPCNL with ultrasonographic guidance in all steps of the procedure (group A), and the other 25 patients underwent standard fluoroscopically guided csPCNL (group B). All of the patients underwent PCNL in the complete supine position.
Isolated renal hydatid disease is a rare endemic infestation caused by larval form of Echinococcus granulosus. Hydatiduria is an uncommon presentation of renal hydatid disease. In 2012 a 34-year-old female referred to Razi Hospital, Rasht, Iran with complaints of right flank pain and grape-like material in urine.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFInguinal bladder hernia is a rare clinical condition, with 1-3% of all inguinal hernias involving the bladder. Any portion of the bladder may herniate, from a small portion or a diverticulum to most of the bladder. We present a 55-year-old male with an intermittent right scrotal mass of 6 months' duration.

Some patients respond poorly to routine medical therapy and are not well suited for surgery, too. This study was planned to evaluate the effect of Botulinum-A on BPH refractory to current medical therapy in poor surgical candidates.

Patients And Methods: • A prospective, double-blind clinical study was performed. • In all, 550 patients aged 17-55 years with acute renal colic were randomised to two groups.
The previous large retrospective studies demonstrated that treatment with Statins reduces both the incidence of prostate cancer by 50% and serum Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) level up to 40%. However the main problem in those studies was the absence of control groups of men with hypercholesterolemia without Statin treatment. We performed a small prospective controlled clinical trial to assess the influence of the treatment with Atorvastatin on serum PSA in men with hypercholesterolemia referred to our educational and treatment center from October 2007 to March 2008.

We investigated variables that affect operative time during percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) with the complete supine position.
Patients And Methods: We reviewed data of 120 patients who underwent complete supine PCNL by one surgeon.
To determine the effects of previous stone surgery on the results of complete supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (csPCNL), we reviewed 81 patients undergoing csPCNL at our center between March 2008 and March 2009. The principal aim in our study was whether prior renal surgery affects the outcome of PCNL. The results of the study were analyzed using SPSS 11 software.

Materials And Methods: Percutaneous access was created under ultrasonographic guidance in the complete supine position without flank elevation in 14 patients (group A) and under fluoroscopic guidance in the complete supine position without flank elevation in 14 patients (group B). We performed all steps of the complete supine percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) with ultrasonographic guidance in group A.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of subcostal upper pole (UP) access in complete supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (csPCNL).
Materials And Methods: From July 2008 to February 2009, we performed 20 PCNLs in complete supine position. We present our experience of percutaneous approach in complete supine position to the renal superior calix, while insisting on renal displacement technique to facilitate the puncture of the superior calices and to decrease intrathoracic morbidity.
