Introduction: Mucinous ovarian cancer (MOC) is a rare subtype of epithelial ovarian carcinoma, comprising 3-5 % of all ovarian cancer cases. It typically affects women aged 20 to 50 years and is often diagnosed at an early stage, with most patients presenting with early-stage disease. However, giant mucinous cystadenocarcinomas are extremely rare and pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Background: Predicting stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) is crucial for intensifying preventive measures and decreasing morbidity and mortality. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the association between baseline neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) with SAP and to determine the strength of the association.

Methods: The Web of Science, SCOPUS, and PUBMED databases were searched to find eligible studies.

The global evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is known to all. The diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia is expected to worsen, and mortality will be higher when combined with myocardial injury (MI). The combination of novel coronavirus infections in patients with MI can cause confusion in diagnosis and assessment, with each condition exacerbating the other, and increasing the complexity and difficulty of treatment.

Background: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, many pharmaceutical companies have been racing to develop a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine. Simultaneously, rumors and misinformation about COVID-19 are still widely spreading. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the prevalence of COVID-19 misinformation among the Yemeni population and its association with vaccine acceptance and perceptions.

Background: The coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) represents a difficult challenge and could have devastating consequences for the healthcare system and healthcare workers in war-torn countries with poor healthcare facilities such as Yemen. Our study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, preparedness, counselling practices of healthcare workers regarding COVID-19, and the perceived barriers to adequately prevent and control COVID-19 in Yemen.

Methods: Healthcare workers (HCWs) from major healthcare facilities participated in this cross-sectional study.

Research to understand the nitrogen cycle has been thriving. The production of reactive nitrogen by humans exceeds the removal capacity through denitrification of any natural ecosystem. The surplus of reactive nitrogen is also a significant pollutant that can shift biological diversity and distribution, promotes eutrophication in aquatic ecosystems, and affects human health.

Background: Serum creatinine has been solely used in clinical practice to identify chronic kidney disease (CKD) staging in the elderly population. Serum cystatin C is believed to more accurately define the CKD staging and is also ratified as an endogenous biomarker by Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) guidelines.

Material And Methods: A total of 300 elderly Malay participants (age ≥ 65 years) with CKD, attending the Hospital University Sains Malaysia were included in the study.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can be associated with systemic inflammatory trademarks and can coexist with other chronic debilitating diseases such as osteoporosis, which is considered among the most serious comorbidities of COPD. In this review, we aimed at finding answers for the following questions and tried to encapsulate the available literature: (1) how prevalent is osteoporosis among patients with COPD? (2) What are severity patterns of osteoporosis in case of COPD? (3) What are the therapeutic outcomes for patients with osteoporotic COPD? The total number of patients with COPD from all studies was 3815, majority of which were male (2658) representing 69.67% of patients.

The aim of present work is to investigate systematic study of the preparation of biodegradable particles via double emulsion solvent evaporation technique. The used formation is based on cationic ammonium methacrylate copolymer Eudragit® RS 100, without the use of any stabilizer. The effect of process parameters like ultra turrax® stirring speed and stirring time, ultrasonication time, polymer amount, and volume of outer aqueous phases on the colloidal properties of particles was investigated.

Background: Very little information is available on the characteristics of the Lebanese olive germplasm. Therefore, the aim of this work was to evaluate the fruit and oil characteristics of the main Lebanese olive varieties (Aayrouni, Abou chawkeh, Baladi, Del and Soury) from two successive crop seasons (2010-2011).

Results: All of the genotypes had medium-high oil content in the fruit, indicating their suitability for oil production; Aayrouni had particularly high values.

Anisotropic polymeric colloidal or Janus particles possessing simultaneous magnetic and fluorescent properties were successfully prepared via the swelling-diffusion or the in situ emulsion polymerization method. In the swelling-diffusion process, magnetic emulsions (an organic ferrofluid dispersed in aqueous medium) were synthesized and used for seeds of submicron magnetic Janus particles. After swelling the anisotropic particles obtained by 1-pyrene-carboxaldehyde fluorescent dye dissolved in tetrahydrofuran, well-defined fluorescent-magnetic Janus particles were produced.

Hybrid inorganic colloidal particles have attracted a great attention in the last years, and they have been largely used in various applications and more particularly in biomedical nanotechnology. Recently, they are used as carriers for biomolecules, and exploited for use in microsystems, microfluidics and in lab-on-a chip based bionanotechnology. Various kinds of hybrid particles can be listed starting from classical inorganic nanoparticles such as silica, gold, silver, iron oxide and those exhibiting intrinsic properties such as semiconducting nanoparticles (e.

Temperature and glucose sensitive microgels were prepared via radical precipitation polymerization, using N-vinylcaprolactam (NVCL) as the main monomer, N,N-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinker, V50 as initiator and 4-vinylphenylboronic acid (VPBA) as a functional monomer. The LCST of homopoly (NVCL) was first determined and found to be around 33 degrees C. The preparation of microgels was examined as a function of crosslinker (MBA) and VPBA amount in the polymerization recipe.

In this short review we highlight novel uses of silica-based nanoparticles (NPs) in the biomedical sector. Silica NPs are widely used in nanotechnology because they are easy to prepare and inexpensive to produce. Their specific surface characteristics, porosity and capacity for functionalization make them good tools for biomolecule detection and separation, providing solid media for drug delivery systems and acting as contrast agent protectors.

Object: Although a growing number of authors currently advocate surgery to treat low-grade gliomas, controversy still persists, especially because of the risk of inducing neurological sequelae when the tumor is located within eloquent brain areas. Many researchers performing preoperative neurofunctional imaging and intraoperative electrophysiological methods have recently reported on the usefulness of cortical functional mapping. Despite the frequent involvement of subcortical structures by these gliomas, very few investigators have specifically raised the subject of fiber tracking.

Functional neuroimaging has improved pre-planning of surgery in eloquent cortical areas, but remains unable to map white matter. Thus, tumour resection in functional subcortical regions still presents a high risk of sequelae. The authors successfully used intraoperative electrical stimulations to perform subcortical language pathway mapping in order to avoid postoperative definitive deficit, and correlated these functional findings with the anatomical location of the eloquent bundles detected using postoperative MRI.
