Brain tumors are among the most fatal and devastating diseases, and they often result in a significant reduction in life expectancy. The devising of treatment plans that can extend the lives of affected individuals hinges on an accurate diagnosis of these tumors. Identifying and analyzing large volumes of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data manually proves to be both challenging and time-consuming.

Purpose: As the prevalence of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) increases, the demand for surgical interventions that optimize patient outcomes while minimizing complications grows. This systematic review compares the efficacy, efficiency, and safety of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) with robotic-assisted simple prostatectomy (RASP), providing insights for evidence-based surgical decision-making in BPH treatment.

Materials And Methods: Adhering to PRISMA guidelines, the study protocol was registered with Prospero [CRD42024509627].

The prevalence of organophosphate esters (OPEs) in the global environment is increasing, which aligns with the decline in the usage of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). PBDEs, a category of flame retardants, were banned and classified as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) through the Stockholm Convention due to their toxic and persistent properties. Despite a lack of comprehensive understanding of their ecological and health consequences, OPEs were adopted as replacements for PBDEs.

Background: This cross-sectional cohort study assessed the inequalities in oesophageal carcinoma risk by age, sex and nativity in Kuwait: 1980-2019.

Methods: Using oesophageal cancer incidence data from the Kuwait National Cancer Registry, relevant Kuwaiti population data and World Standard Population as a reference, age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) (per 100,000 person-years) overall and by subcohorts were computed. The incident oesophageal cancer cases count was overdispersed with excessive structural zeros, therefore, it was analyzed using multivariable zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) model.

Purpose: To address the pattern of urodynamic findings in diabetic patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), comparing short-standing and long-standing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 50 patients presenting with LUTS and a concurrent diagnosis of T2DM, between February 2016 and May 2018. Patients were classified and evaluated according to the duration of diabetes into two groups: short-standing DM (< 15 years, n = 31), and long-standing DM (≥ 15 years, n = 19) groups.

Currently, there is no preference for surgical (SAVR) vs transcatheter (TAVR) aortic valve replacement in patients with low ejection fraction (EF). The present study retrospectively compared the outcomes of SAVR vs TAVR in patients with EF ≤40% (70 SAVR and 117 TAVR patients). Study outcomes were survival and the composite endpoint of stroke, aortic valve reintervention, and heart failure readmission.

Background: This retrospective cohort study examines the trends in childhood leukaemia age-standardized incidence rates (ASIRs) (per million person-years) using cases which were diagnosed at age 0-19 years from 1980 to 2014 and recorded in the Kuwait Cancer Control Center (KCCC) registry.

Methods: Childhood leukaemia age-specific incidence rates overall and by sub-cohorts defined by age (0-4, 5-9, 10-14, and 15-19 years), sex (male, female) and nationality (Kuwaiti, non-Kuwaiti) were computed and age-standardized. Joinpoint regression models were used to evaluate trends in childhood leukaemia ASIRs.
