Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extracranial solid tumor in early childhood. Despite intensive multimodal therapy, nearly half of children with high-risk disease will relapse with therapy-resistant tumors. Dysregulation of MAPK pathway has been implicated in the pathogenesis of relapsed and refractory NB patients, which underscores the possibility of targeting MAPK signaling cascade as a novel therapeutic strategy.

Article Synopsis
  • - The GerdQ questionnaire was used to assess inpatients with reflux symptoms, focusing on factors like heartburn and nausea, and scored on a scale of 6 points.
  • - A total of 1233 patients participated, with 538 diagnosed with reflux esophagitis (RE) via endoscopy, revealing a significant correlation between GerdQ scores and the presence and severity of RE (p < 0.05).
  • - The study suggests that GerdQ is a valuable screening tool for RE diagnosis, showing strong links to both diagnosis and severity across different patient groups, including Uygur and Han populations.

Objective: We aimed to study the association between HLA-DRB1 alleles and anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) among Uyghur and Han patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) in China.

Methods: Altogether 160 UC patients and 466 healthy controls of Uyghur and Han groups residing in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China were included. HLA-DRB1 variants were identified from genomic DNA using polymerase chain reaction and gene sequencing.

Aim: To investigate the contribution of fucosyltransferase 2 (FUT2) variants to the genetic susceptibility and clinical heterogeneity of ulcerative colitis (UC) between Han and Uyghur patients in Xinjiang, China.

Methods: A total of 102 UC patients (53 Han patients including 22 men and 31 women, and 49 Uyghur patients including 25 men and 24 women; aged 48 ± 16 years) and 310 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were enrolled from January 2010 to May 2011 in Xinjiang People's Hospital of China. UC was diagnosed based on the clinical, endoscopic and histological findings following Lennard-Jones criteria.
