This study addresses the prevalent issue of meat species authentication and adulteration through a chemometrics-based approach, crucial for upholding public health and ensuring a fair marketplace. Volatile compounds were extracted and analyzed using headspace-solid-phase-microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Adulterated meat samples were effectively identified through principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least square-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA).

In this study, we compared the degree of oxidation of pork patties refrigerated at 7 °C for 0, 7, and 14 days and the content of 10 types of heterocyclic amines (HCAs) after heating. The pork patties used in the study were added with 0.7 mg sodium nitrite (SN) and 5 mg paprika extract (PE), respectively.

Selective detection of a metal ion with high selectivity is of great importance to understand its existence and its role in many chemical and biological processes. We report here the synthesis, characterization and Al sensing properties of two rhodamine-based isomers, (E)-2-((2-(allyloxy)benzylidene)amino)ethyl)-3',6'-bis(ethylamine)-2',7'-dimethylspiro[isoindoline-1,9'-xanthen]-3-one (L-2-oxy) and (E)-2-((4-(allyloxy)benzylidene)amino)ethyl)-3',6'-bis(ethylamine)-2',7'-dimethylspiro[isoindoline-1,9'-xanthen]-3-one (L-4-oxy). L-2-oxyand L-4-oxy show pink coloration, significant enhancement in absorbance at 530 nm and fluorescence intensity at 553 nm in the presence of Al among several cations.

The Federated Cloud Computing (FCC) paradigm provides scalability advantages to Cloud Service Providers (CSP) in preserving their Service Level Agreement (SLA) as opposed to single Data Centers (DC). However, existing research has primarily focused on Virtual Machine (VM) placement, with less emphasis on energy efficiency and SLA adherence. In this paper, we propose a novel solution, Federated Cloud Workload Prediction with Deep Q-Learning (FEDQWP).

Cystic echinococcosis is one of the most significant cyclo-zoonotic diseases of major economic and public health significance worldwide. The current study was carried out to determine the epidemiological profile of cystic echinococcosis as well as to investigate its molecular and phylogenic status from one-humped camel () in the southern region of Egypt. In the present work, 110 camels freshly slaughtered at Daraw abattoirs, Aswan governorate were inspected for the presence of Hydatid cysts (HCs) visually and manually by palpation and incision, over a period of one year (June, 2018 - May, 2019).

Marker proteins play a significant role in bacterial arsenic (As) transformation. Phylogenetic analysis and three-dimensional (3D) characteristics of As transforming bacterial marker proteins guide the evolutionary origin and As transforming potential of the species. Indeed, As-tolerant bacteria also show a significant level of As transformation.

Background Low birth weight (LBW) is susceptible to neonatal complications, chronic medical conditions, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. We aim to describe the determinants of very low birth weight (VLBW) in India and compare it with the determinants of LBW based on the National Family Health Survey - 4 (NHFS-4) Methods Data from the NFHS-4 on birthweight and other socio-demographic characteristics for the youngest child born in the family during the five years preceding the survey were used. Data of 147,762 infant-mother pairs were included.

Article Synopsis
  • Vitamin D has anti-inflammatory effects that may help patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), especially when their vitamin D levels are low.
  • In a study, patients with active UC were given either oral nano vitamin D or a placebo, and those receiving vitamin D showed a significant decrease in UC activity scores and inflammation markers after 4 weeks.
  • Higher vitamin D levels were linked to better disease outcomes, suggesting that achieving a level above 40 ng/mL can greatly improve symptoms in active UC patients.

: Peritoneal tuberculosis is a common type of abdominal tuberculosis. The most commonly used classification divides peritoneal tuberculosis into wet-ascitic type, dry-plastic type, and fixed-fibrotic type. : We performed a systematic literature search on the definitions of existing classification of peritoneal tuberculosis.

Background And Aims: Elderly patients with hip fractures pose a medical challenge for the anesthesiologist and are often associated with a high incidence of perioperative morbidity and mortality. We aimed to compare the efficacy of lumbar plexus block (LPB) with subarachnoid block (SAB) in elderly patients undergoing closed reduction and internal fixation for hip fractures.

Methods: In this observational study, 50 patients with femoral intertrochanteric fracture were divided into LPB group and SAB group of 25 each by convenient sampling.

Kawasaki disease (KD) is the most common vasculitis in childhood that affects medium-sized arteries, particularly coronary arteries. The etiology remains unknown; however, many studies suggest that specific genetic factors and/or some infectious agents underlie the onset. Here, we report a set of identical twin boys who simultaneously developed KD, emphasizing the genetic component of etiology.
