Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) encompasses metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver (MASL) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), with MASH posing a risk of progression to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The global prevalence of MASLD is estimated at approximately a quarter of the population, with significant healthcare costs and implications for liver transplantation. The pathogenesis of MASLD involves intrahepatic liver cells, extrahepatic components, and immunological aspects, particularly the involvement of macrophages.

Influence of social media on health-related decision-making among adults attending an outpatient department of a tertiary care centre in India: A cross-sectional analytical study.

Background Social media platforms, especially Facebook and WhatsApp, can spread public health information effectively. We aimed to estimate the influence of health-related messages circulated through these social media platforms on health-related decision-making and its associated factors. Methods We did a cross-sectional analytical study among adults (aged >18 years) who visited the outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital in suburban West Bengal, during July-September 2021.

Background  Anemia is a severe public health problem in India affecting more than half of the population. To reduce its burden on the population, the Government of India under the Anemia Mukt Bharat program has adopted a monitoring strategy for the diagnosis and treatment of anemia. Point-of-care testing (POCT) devices play a pivotal role in testing hemoglobin at a community level where sophisticated laboratory instruments are not available.

Organophosphorus compound (OPC) poisoning is common in Bangladesh. The toxicity of the agent and paucity of appropriate medical services has resulted in high mortality rates. To find out the clinical profile and outcome of OPC poisoning patients is the main aim of my study.

Robotic repair of moderate-sized midline ventral hernias reduced complications, readmissions, and length of hospitalization compared to open techniques.

Purpose: To compare outcomes of robotic and open repair for uncomplicated, moderate-sized, midline ventral hernias.

Methods: From 2017 to 2021, patient characteristics and 30 day outcomes for all ventral hernias at our center were prospectively collected. We studied hernias potentially suitable for robotic repair: elective, midline, 3-10 cm rectus separation, no prior mesh, and no need for concomitant procedure.

To counteract the toxicity of APAP, the nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2 (Nrf2) activates the expression of genes responsible for drug detoxification and GSH synthesis.

Upper back pain is as painful or troublesome as the pain in the lower back or the neck. Myofascial pain syndrome which is most common cause of upper back pain is characterized by localized musculoskeletal pain and tenderness in association with trigger points. The aim of the study was to correlate the improvement of myofascial pain syndrome patients with proper and timely physical therapy.

Though hypertriglyceridemia is an established risk factor for acute pancreatitis, the relationship between hypertriglyceridemia and pancreatitis-associated complications remains controversial. Serum Electrolyte Status of Patients with Acute Stroke Admitted in a Tertiary Care Hospital.

Stroke, usually a focal rather than global neurological deficit resulting from vascular origin with sudden onset, may be with cerebral infarction or intracerebral haemorrhage. It results in brain oedema following vascular injury and electrolyte imbalance. A descriptive cross sectional study was carried out in the Department of Medicine, Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Mymensingh, Bangladesh during March 2016 to May 2018 to assess the electrolyte levels among 220 purposively selected patients with stroke confirmed by CT scan.
