Aim: To analyze the association between clavicular tunnel positioning and postoperative reduction loss in patients with acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation treated with anatomic coracoclavicular (CC) fixation using double clavicular tunnels.
Methods: A retrospective review of patients with AC joint dislocation, treated with anatomic CC fixation using double clavicular tunnels, was conducted. Patients with pre-operative, immediate post-operative, and final follow-up Zanca-view X-rays were included.
Introduction: in patients with anterior glenohumeral (GH) instability together with an off-track or engaging Hill-Sachs (HS) defect, Bankart-remplissage (B-R) surgery reduces the recurrence rate when compared to Bankart (B) surgery alone. There is controversy regarding whether the recurrence rate also decreases in patients with on-track or non-engaging Hill-Sachs defects.
Objective: to compare the recurrence rate and clinical evolution of patients with anterior glenohumeral instability with 'on-track' Hill-Sachs defect treated with either B or B-R surgery.
Background: The management of acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation remains controversial. Recently, anatomic coracoclavicular (CC) fixation with a double clavicular tunnel and three flip-buttons has shown promising results. This study aimed to evaluate functional and radiological outcomes in patients with high-grade AC joint dislocation treated with anatomic CC fixation using double clavicular tunnels and three flip-buttons.

Our main objectives were to study the objective response rate (ORR) assessed by treating physicians and safety of vismodegib in a real-world practice setting in Argentina.
Material And Methods: This is a prospective cohort study in real-world practice.
Ophthalmic Plast Reconstr Surg
December 2019
Introduction: Vismodegib has shown a significant response rate in locally advanced periocular basal cell carcinoma. Long-term monotherapy is very difficult to accomplish due to primary or secondary resistance and side effects that limit the length of treatment. The use of Vismodegib as neoadjuvant followed by Mohs micrographic surgery is an option.

However, spike branching consequences trigger variation in number of superior and inferior grains and thus affect grain quality. The genetics behind the length of both primary and secondary branches were studied resulting in the identification of cloned genes.

The highest diversity is found in the Greater Antilles islands in the Caribbean region. Although from the taxonomic point of view, Phoebis seems to be a stable genus, there is no phylogenetic hypothesis corroborating the monophyly of the genus.

Firstly, the implementation of the Triple to Double Coincidence Ratio (TDCR) method is described for the calibration of the activity concentration of a Ga solution using a Hidex™ commercial liquid scintillation counter and a FORTRAN code developed for the calculation of the Ga counting efficiencies in the given measurement system. The relative expanded uncertainty (k = 2) associated with the Ga activity concentration obtained with the TDCR method is equal to 2%.

Methods: The risk assessment tools were developed in the following stages: preparation and approval of biological, programmatic, and demographic variables; weighting of the selected variables by a panel of experts; calculation of the risk index; specialization; and knowledge transfer.
Results: Of the 346 Chilean communes analyzed, 34% were in the high-risk interval for experiencing a measles and rubella outbreak with the introduction of the virus, 59%, in the average-risk interval, and 3%, in the low-risk interval.
Cutaneous human papillomaviruses (HPVs) comprise a large and highly heterogeneous virus group. Some of the cutaneous HPVs of the genus Beta have been suggested as a co-factor in the development of non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC). The aim of this study was to determine cutaneous HPV prevalence and type-specific distribution in different kinds of skin lesions from Argentine patients visiting Dermatology Departments of three hospitals from Buenos Aires.

The new taxon shares certain features with some members of the subfamily Arrhenophaninae but more with the larvae and the fully winged adult females of other subfamilies of Psychidae. Antillopsyche has been assigned provisionally to the subfamily Typhoniinae based on these similarities.

This senior name was published for a genus of Trichoptera in the family Polycentropodidae (Banks 1941). We therefore propose the new name Antillonatus Núñez & Davis to replace the junior homonym Antillopsyche Núñez & Davis.

We evaluated the effectiveness of PCV10 on pneumonia morbidity and mortality among infants during the first two years after vaccine introduction.
Methods: This is a population-based nested case-control study using four merged nationwide case-based electronic health data registries: live birth, vaccination, hospitalization and mortality.
The yellowfin tuna, Thunnus albacares (Bonnaterre, 1788), covers majority of the Philippines' tuna catch, one of the major fisheries commodities in the country. Due to its high economic importance sustainable management of these tunas has become an imperative measure to prevent stock depletion. Currently, the Philippine yellowfin tuna is believed to be part of a single stock of the greater WCPO though some reports suggest otherwise.

Several studies attempting to explain the wide-ranging diversity of Calisto gave different weights to vicariance, dispersal and adaptive radiation. We utilized molecular phylogenetic approaches and secondary calibrations points to estimate lineage ages.

The Central America Diabetes Initiative (CAMDI) is the first study to examine the prevalence of diabetes in Central America.
Research Design And Methods: The CAMDI survey was a cross-sectional survey based on a probabilistic sample of the noninstitutionalized population of five Central American populations conducted between 2003 and 2006.
Background: The role of advanced maternal age as a risk factor for congenital malformations in offspring is known. However, the influence of paternal age is not clear.
Aim: To evaluate the association between advanced paternal age and the risk for congenital malformations.
Objectives: Cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women in developing countries. This study was designed to evaluate whether visual inspection with acetic acid and magnification (VIAM) improved confirmation of cervical lesions as compared to confirmation with visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) without magnification when used by physicians.
Methods: From April-December 2004, women in San Martin, Peru, who were referred as VIA-positive by an "obstetriz" (a professional midwife with 6 years of university training) were randomized into two groups for confirmatory screening by a physician using either VIA or VIAM with an AviScope, a hand-held 4x magnification scope with a green light source.
Background: There is an association between extreme maternal ages and the risk of congenital malformations. This is specially true for chromosomal abnormalities among women of advanced ages and disruptive malformation among teenage mothers.
Aim: To determine the association between maternal ages and incidence of congenital malformations at the obstetric ward of a clinical hospital.
Background: The effects of folic acid fortification on neural tube defects is well known. Other reports show a beneficial effect of the fortification on orofacial clefts, urinary malformations and defects caused by limb reduction.
Aim: To determine the changes in prevalence of congenital malformations after the start of flour folic acid fortification in Chile.
Background: There are some records shrowing that the frequency of Down syndrome is experiencing an increase over time.
Aim: To verify whether the frequency of Down syndrome is increasing in the maternity of the University of Chile Clinical Hospital, or in other Chilean hospitals participating in the Latin American Collaborative Study of Congenital Malformations (ECLAMC) and compare the rates with other world registries of congenital malformations.
Material And Methods: The information was obtained from the ECLAMC databases of the maternity.
