Challenges faced by medical faculty in implementation of competency-based medical education and lessons learned.

Background: Regulations on Graduate Medical Education (Amendment), 2019 (GME) introduced competency-based medical education (CMBE) for undergraduate medical students and were implemented in the 2019 entrance batch in medical colleges all over India. This study aimed to find out the challenges faced by medical teachers in CBME implementation, lessons learned, and the level of preparedness for upcoming batches.

Material And Methods: A cross-sectional, multi-centric descriptive study was conducted from November 2021 to February 2022 including first-year faculty of medical colleges.

Accidental cannulation of amoebic liver abscess during pericardiocentesis: a case report.

Background: Amoebiasis is a prevalent infection in the tropics and can sometimes present as liver abscess. Cardiac tamponade is an uncommon complication of ruptured amoebic liver abscess requiring urgent pericardiocentesis, which has a high success rate, but procedural complications can include injury to cardiac chambers, abdominal viscera, and even death. This case underscores the approach to diagnose and manage an unintended visceral puncture during pericardiocentesis, which is a rare but life-threatening complication.

Early identification of this offending drug might reverse this catastrophic event. We report a 45-year-old female, who was diagnosed as a case of disseminated tuberculosis and was treated with antitubercular drugs (ATT), but later developed ATT-induced hepatitis.

Colonic polyp-rare site of metastasis from primary lung carcinoma: Clinical presentations and outcome.

Although majority of lung cancers have distant metastasis at the time of initial diagnosis, colonic metastases are extremely rare. This report presents a rare clinical case which presented with lower limb deep vein thrombosis and found to have colon polyp incidentally detected while evaluating for occult blood positive in stool. Histopathology of the polyp was suggestive of lung primary and on further evaluation PET scan was suggestive of left lung mass with widespread distant metastasis.

The combination of cyclin dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors with endocrine therapy is the standard therapy in hormone receptor positive HER-2 negative metastatic breast cancer (HR+/HER2- MBC). Several randomized trials have shown the benefits of this combination, however, real world evidence in the Indian patients is warranted.
