Background: Obstetric brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) is a condition impairing limb function caused by birth injury. In 20 to 30% of cases, severe OBPP can cause life constraints in feeding, grooming, and clothing tasks.
Objective: The present study, using voxel- and surface-based morphometry (VBM and SBM), examined the brain structure of pediatric OBPP patients to better understand the effects of this peripheral motor deficit on early brain development.
Interdisciplinary consensus on the use of Cereton in the treatment of central nervous system diseases with cognitive impairment of congenital and acquired genesis in children. Resolution of the interdisciplinary council of expertsXXIII All-Russian Forum "Zdravnitsa-2024".

Despite an injury at the level below the brain, the subsequent changes in the motor system involve cortical reorganization. In the scientific community, the need for a comprehensive approach targeting the brain is increasingly recognized for greater motor recovery in these patients.

This study analyzed the clinical-genetic characteristics of patients with these conditions, focusing on both known and newly identified variants. We examined data from 15 patients, presenting symptoms of OI and joint contractures.

Both conditions present as flaccid paresis but differ from each other in the pathogenesis: AMC is a congenital condition, while OBPP results from trauma during childbirth. Despite this difference, these diseases are identical in terms of their manifestations and treatment programmes.

We examined this hypothesis by inspecting whether cerebral processing of movies, featuring both goal-directed movements and content without humans, differ between children with congenital motor dysfunction and healthy controls. Electroencephalography was recorded from 23 healthy children and 23 children with limited or absent arm movement due to either arthrogryposis multiplex congenita or obstetric brachial plexus palsy.

At the same time, according to the embodiment cognition theories, the motor impairments might lead to the alteration of cognitive functions in OBPP/amyoplasia patients. In the current study, we examined whether OBPP/amyoplasia children exhibit altered processing of motor-related verbs.

At present, there are many different schemes for the treatment and rehabilitation of developed residual brucellosis, in which, in addition to the "basic" course, including systemic anti-inflammatory therapy, much attention is paid to physiotherapeutic procedures, but the choice of the most effective treatment tactics remains an unresolved problem.
Purpose Of The Study: To determine the effectiveness of the use of options for non-drug methods of treatment in the complex rehabilitation of patients with residual brucellosis with lesions of musculoskeletal system.
The current study aimed to compare differences in the cognitive development of children with and without upper limb motor disorders. The study involved 89 children from 3 to 15 years old; 57 children with similar upper limb motor disorders and 32 healthy children. Our results showed that motor disorders could impair cognitive functions, especially memory.

New effective surgical and physiotherapeutic methods have been developed to improve the quality of life of patients with AMC. While it is clear that all these interventions should strongly rely on the plastic reorganization of the central nervous system, almost no studies have investigated this topic.

Unlabelled: Arthrogryposis is one of the most severe congenital orthopedic diseases, characterized by multiple joint contractures, hypoplasia or aplasia of the skeletal muscles of the extremities, as well as severe motor disorders. The use of compensatory strategies allows patients to improve the ability to self-care.
Objective: To study the compensatory strategies in children with arthrogryposis with absent of active flexion in the elbow joint and estimate their dynamic after surgical treatment.
Unlabelled: Regardless of the chosen methods of breast cancer treatment, more than 85% of patients develop postmastectomy syndrome (PMES) after a course of therapy, which significantly worsens their quality of life and psychological state. Relatively recently, physical factors began to be used in the conservative treatment of PMES and the results of the use of various rehabilitation therapy complexes were evaluated.
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of the use of some physiotherapy methods in the rehabilitation of patients with PMES according to clinical parameters, markers of endothelial dysfunction, and the results of a questionnaire.

Aim: To assess the safety and clinical and neurophysiological efficacy of xeomin in children with spastic equinus and equinovarus foot deformity in cerebral palsy.
Material And Methods: Sixty-four patients with spastic forms of cerebral palsy (levels I-IV on the GMFCS) were enrolled into this multi-center open-label comparative randomized trial. The patients were administered xeomin or botox once, each drug being administered to 32 patients.
Patients with arthrogryposis often require anesthesia for surgical procedures. Intubation can be challenging due to lack of visualization. Anesthetic maintenance is fairly routine.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLower extremity deformities of patients with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita present a wide spectrum of severity and deformity combinations. Treatment goals range from merely ensuring comfortable seating and shoe wear, to fully independent and active ambulation, but the overarching intention is to help realize the patient's greatest potential for independence and function. Treatment of hip and knee contractures and dislocations has become more interventional, whereas treatment of foot deformities has paradoxically become much less surgical.

Treatment of these patients is aimed at improving independence and performance of activities of daily living. Although each area needs to be assessed independently for the most appropriate surgical procedure, often multiple areas can be addressed at the same operative setting.

Spasticity treatment is one of the key aspects of the contemporary cerebral palsy (CP) rehabilitation that influences on the effectiveness of other methods. The paper presents the first Russian document that unites the recommendations for the BTA treatment of CP and could be used as the guideline for the multilevel injections. The Russian consensus on the multilevel botulinum toxin A (BTA) treatment of spastic CP is based on the international data and the results of national studies.

The paper presents the review of literature on the age aspect of using lamotrigine in pubertal period, in women of reproductive age, during pregnancy and lactation and in climacteric period. Special attention is drawn to the low teratogenic potential of this drug used as a monotherapy. It has been concluded that lamotrigine is expedient to be used in treatment of partial and generalized epilepsy in women.
