Objectives: Chipping is the most frequent clinical failure of zirconia crowns. Causes of chipping have not been completely understood and different possible reasons have been considered. The study was aimed at evaluating the fracture resistance of 3 different CAD/CAM zirconia frame designs veneered with porcelain.

Background: Even today, use of Glass Ionomer Cements (GIC) as restorative material is indicated for uncooperative patients.

Aim: The study aimed at estimating the surface roughness of different GICs using or not their proprietary surface coatings and at observing the interfaces between cement and coating through SEM.

Materials And Methods: Forty specimens have been obtained and divided into 4 groups: Fuji IX (IX), Fuji IX/G-Coat Plus (IXC), Vitremer (V), Vitremer/Finishing Gloss (VFG).

Purpose: To assess the shear bond strength to unground human enamel (ESBS) and flexural strength (FS) of different reinforcing fibers used in combination with a flowable composite resin.

Materials And Methods: For ESBS testing, 90 human molars were selected and randomly divided into 9 groups (n = 10) according to the reinforcing fiber to be tested: 1. RTD Quartz Splint additionally impregnated at chairside with Quartz Splint Resin (RTD); 2.

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of different surface treatments and metal primer application on bond strength of zirconia ceramic to a self-adhesive resin cement.

Methods: 40 cylinder-shaped (Ø 12 x 5.25 mm high) of zirconia ceramic (Aadva Zirconia) were randomly divided into four groups (n= 10), based on the surface treatment to be performed: (1) Sandblasting with 125 microm Al2O3 particles (S) (positive control); (2) Selective infiltration etching (SIE); (3) Experimental heated etching solution applied for 30 minutes (ST); (4) No treatment (C).

Purpose: To assess the influence of preliminary phosphoric acid-etching on shear bond strength (SBS) to enamel and dentin of a self-adhering restorative composite and of a new self-etch adhesive used in combination with the proprietary flowable composite.

Methods: 100 human molars were selected. SBS was assessed on flat buccal enamel surfaces and mid-coronal dentin.

Purposes: To evaluate (1) the efficacy of the color changing technology featured by DT Light Illusion Post aimed at safely identifying the post in case of re-treatment, and (2) the efficacy of a resin composite layer to mask the post if color shift occurs due to cold food and beverages.

Methods: Five "master disks" of 3 mm of thickness were prepared by embedding in a resin composite four thermo-sensitive posts and one translucent post (control) cut in bars. Disks of resin composite in 0.

The debonding of a densely sintered zirconia prosthesis is a clinically reported, and undesirable event. A standardized, affordable adhesive cementation protocol for zirconia-based restorations is not yet available. The aim of this investigation was to assess the influence of several surface treatments on the initial shear bond strength of self-adhesive resin cement to densely sintered zirconia ceramic.

Objectives: This study aims to assess the shear bond strength (SBS) to enamel and the distribution of failure modes of brackets bonded using a new self-adhering flowable resin composite (Vertise Flow, VF), with or without preliminary phosphoric acid etching (PAE).

Materials And Methods: Eighty extracted premolars were randomly divided into four groups (n = 20): (1) etch-and-rinse adhesive (E&R), PAE/Transbond XT Primer/Transbond XT Paste (3M Unitek); (2) self-etch adhesive (SE), Transbond Plus Self-Etching Primer (3M Unitek)/Transbond XT Paste; (3) VF; (4) PAE/VF. In each group, 10 bracketed teeth were debonded within 30 min, while the remaining teeth were subjected to thermocycling before testing.

Objectives: To assess by means of push-out test the post retentive potential of a new flowable resin composite with low polymerization stress.

Methods: SureFil(®) SDR™ (Dentsply, S) was compared with the resin cement Calibra (Dentsply, C). S and C were used in combination with the adhesive XP Bond (Dentsply, XPB).

Objective: To assess the applicability of a computerized method to measure on digital photographs the changes in head and scapular posture following rapid palatal expansion (RPE) treatment.

Study Design: Randomized controlled trial. Twenty-three children (age 9.

Introduction: The study evaluated a null-hypothesis of no differences of fit between stock abutments and CAD/CAM titanium, gold sputtered and zirconia abutments when examined for radiographic adaptation and Scanning Electron Microcopy (SEM) at their inner aspect. The agreement between microscopic and radiographic fit was also assessed.

Methods: Implants (Osseospeed, Astra Tech, Mölndal, Sweden) were connected to titanium abutments (Ti-design, Astra Tech, Mölndal, Sweden) (control group n=12), to stock zirconia abutments (Zir-design, Astra Tech) (group 1 n=12) and to third party zirconia abutments (Aadva Zr abutment, GC, Tokyo, Japan) as observed under SEM (JEOL JSM-6060LV, Tokyo, Japan).

Hanau's laws and the so-called articulation quintet have contributed greatly to the evolution of the prosthetic dentistry and have been further elaborated by various authors. The main aim of this study was to establish the stability of prosthetic plates by attaining balanced occlusion. Several authors have addressed the problem of removable and fixed prostheses by classifying mandibular movements into functional and parafunctional movements which extends the classical occlusal mechanics for the modern occlusal feedback model.
