Background: The atrial fibrillation better care (ABC) pathway is a simple, comprehensive framework that facilitates provision of integrated care for atrial fibrillation (AF) patients.

Objective: We evaluated management of AF patients in a secondary prevention cohort using the ABC pathway and examined the impact of ABC adherence on clinical outcomes.

Methods: The Chinese Patients with Atrial Fibrillation registry is a prospective registry conducted in 44 sites across China between October 2014 and December 2018.

Background Patients with atrial fibrillation commonly have complex clinical backgrounds of multimorbidity and polypharmacy. The Atrial Fibrillation Better Care (ABC) pathway has been developed to help deliver integrated and holistic care for patients with atrial fibrillation. In this ancillary analysis, we assessed the adherence to and the effectiveness of the ABC pathway at reducing adverse outcomes in Chinese patients with atrial fibrillation with a complex clinical background of multimorbidity or polypharmacy.

Background And Purpose: Prospectively collected data comparing the safety and effectiveness of individual non-vitamin K antagonists (NOACs) are lacking. Our objective was to directly compare the effectiveness and safety of NOACs in patients with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation (AF).

Methods: In GLORIA-AF, a large, prospective, global registry program, consecutive patients with newly diagnosed AF were followed for 3 years.

Background: The co-incidence of multiple morbidities and polypharmacy is common amongst patients with atrial fibrillation (AF); however, data on their impact on clinical outcomes are scarce in Asian cohorts.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of multimorbidity and polypharmacy on clinical outcomes and AF management among elderly Chinese patients.

Methods: The ChiOTEAF registry is a prospective, multicenter nationwide study conducted from October 2014 to December 2018.

Background Effective stroke prevention with oral anticoagulants (OAC) is recommended for some patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We aimed to describe OAC use by geographical region and type of site in patients with recent-onset AF enrolled in a large global registry. Methods and Results Eligible participants were recruited into GLORIA-AF (Global Registry on Long-Term Oral Antithrombotic Treatment in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation), a prospective observational cohort study from 2014 to 2016 in 4 international regions: North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Purpose Of The Review: We aimed to provide an overview of telemedical monitoring and its impact on outcomes among heart failure (HF) patients.

Recent Findings: Most HF readmissions may be prevented if clinical parameters are strictly controlled via telemedical monitoring. Predictive algorithms for patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (e.

Background: The 4S-AF scheme and the ABC pathway for integrated care have been proposed to better characterize and treat patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We aimed to evaluate the assessment of the 4S-AF scheme and ABC pathway in Chinese AF patients.

Methods: The ChiOTEAF is a prospective, observational, multicentre registry.

Aims: Prior studies have reported conflicting results on digoxin's impact on clinical outcomes and quality of life, and there are limited data from Asia. The aim of this study is to evaluate the use of digoxin and its impact on clinical outcomes and quality of life in a high-risk cohort of elderly Chinese atrial fibrillation (AF) patients.

Methods And Results: The Optimal Thromboprophylaxis in Elderly Chinese Patients with Atrial Fibrillation (ChiOTEAF) registry is a prospective, multicentre nationwide study conducted from October 2014 to December 2018.

Turner syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal disorder that affects 25-50 per 100,000 live born females. Patients with TS face a heavy burden of cardiovascular disease (congenital and acquired) with an increased risk of mortality and morbidity compared to the general population. Cardiovascular diseases are a major cause of death in females with TS.

Background: Suboptimal low dosages of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) are often inappropriately used due to a fear of bleeding, particularly among elderly patients. Such practice is common in Asia, and we aimed to evaluate the use of low-dose NOACs and their impact on clinical outcomes among Chinese patients with atrial fibrillation.

Methods: The Optimal Thromboprophylaxis in Elderly Chinese Patients with Atrial Fibrillation (ChiOTEAF) registry was a prospective, multicenter study conducted in China from October 2014 to December 2018.

Background: The high prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in the very elderly population (aged >80 years) might be underestimated. The elderly are at increased risk of both fatal stroke and bleeding. The Optimal Thromboprophylaxis in Elderly Chinese Patients with Atrial Fibrillation (ChiOTEAF) registry provides contemporary management strategies among the elderly Chinese patients in the new era of non-vitamin K antagonists.

Purpose Of Review: To provide an overview of new concepts in the pharmacotherapy of patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Recent Findings: Modern therapeutic strategies for patients with PAD include specific symptom management and multidisciplinary prevention of cardiovascular events. Low-dose rivaroxaban in combination with aspirin improves outcomes compared with aspirin monotherapy among patients with PAD.

Background: Advancing age is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke in atrial fibrillation. We aimed to evaluate the predictors of all-cause death/any thromboembolism and the impact of oral anticoagulant on clinical outcomes in very elderly (≥85 years) Chinese atrial fibrillation patients.

Methods: The ChiOTEAF is a prospective registry proceeded in 44 sites from 20 provinces in China between October 2014 and December 2018.

Aims: To evaluate the quality measures and clinical performance indicators among elderly Chinese patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The management of patients with AF requires a holistic, multidisciplinary approach. Quality indicators have been proposed to assess the quality of care in 'real-world' clinical practice when managing patients with AF.

Aims: Adherence to guideline-directed oral anticoagulation (OAC) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) improves outcomes, but limited data are available from China. We evaluated the adherence to guideline-directed anticoagulation and its impact on clinical outcomes in a high-risk cohort of elderly Chinese patients.

Methods And Results: The Optimal Thromboprophylaxis in Elderly Chinese Patients with Atrial Fibrillation (ChiOTEAF) registry is a prospective, multicentre study conducted from October 2014 to December 2018.

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of catheter ablation (CA) compared with antiarrhythmic drugs (AADs) as first-line treatment for symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF).

Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials identified using MEDLINE, Cochrane Library and Embase published between 01/01/2000 and 19/03/2021. The primary efficacy endpoint was the first documented recurrence of atrial arrhythmias following the blanking period.

There is a bidirectional relationship between atrial fibrillation (AF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), with multiple shared risk factors. This article discusses an integrated care approach toward the management of patients with AF, including those with CKD. There is an increasing risk of both ischemic stroke and bleeding with progressive deterioration of renal function, complicating the decision of optimal stroke prevention strategies among patients with AF and CKD.

: An integral aspect of atrial fibrillation (AF) management involves better symptom control, incorporating a rate control, rhythm control, or a combination strategy. The 2020 ESC Guidelines suggest that rhythm control strategy should be recommended for symptomatic patients, to mitigate their symptoms and improve the quality of life. However, adequately powered randomized control trials and prospective 'real-world' registries are needed to fully assess the impact of early rhythm control strategies on clinical outcomes in patients with AF.
