Tumor-associated neutrophils (TANs) are the major cellular component of the tumor microenvironment and have been shown to release of different bioactive molecules such as B-cell activating factor (BAFF). The data on the interactions between OSCC cells and neutrophils are limited and do not explain the actual role of the BAFF in the development of the OSCC. Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMDs) including Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) are associated with risk of transformation to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Available data show that innate immune cells involving polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) with their ability to neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation are likely to be directly involved in development of cancer. Examination of NETs generation by TGF-β - induced neutrophils of OLP patients showed increased amounts of traps with MPO, H3Cit and cfDNA, known to be released with NETs.

Eleven strains of Escherichia coli were isolated from 54 bank voles living in the LomZa Landscape Park of the Narew River Valley, indicating that E. coli is not common in the alimentary tract of these mammals. On the basis of pulsed-field gel electrophoresis and computer-assisted analysis, the isolates were grouped into six genotypes at similarities of 39%.
