With mental illness remaining a significant burden of disease, there is an ongoing need for community-based health promotion, prevention, and responses (or "mental health promotion activities"). The health promotion, community development, and positive psychology literature identifies significant heterogeneity in the design and delivery of these activities. This variability spans: (1) individual vs.

Both novel species, designated UPII 610-J and KA00274, and an additional isolate of each species were characterized utilizing biochemical, genotypic and phylogenetic analyses. All strains were non-motile and non-spore forming, asaccharolytic, non-cellulolytic and indole-negative coccobacilli.

Venom producing animals are ubiquitously disseminated among vertebrates and invertebrates such as fish, snakes, scorpions, spiders, and ticks. Of the ~890 tick species worldwide, 27 have been confirmed to cause paralysis in mammalian hosts. The Australian paralysis tick () is the most potent paralyzing tick species known.

To date, there have been no studies assessing patient perception of one-stop clinics dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of melanomas and pigmented lesions.
Objective: To perform a prospective survey study examining patient's perception of a see-and-treat pigmented lesion clinic.
Aim: To investigate the outcomes and effect of a multidisciplinary 'see and treat' pigmented lesion clinic, run jointly by dermatology and general surgery, on the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma at Auckland District Health Board (DHB).
Method: All patients attending the newly established Pigmented Lesion Clinic (PLC) between 1 March 2019 and 31 August 2019 were included in the study. They were compared against a retrospective cohort of patients seen for suspected or biopsy-proven melanomas during the same corresponding period in 2016.
Six strictly anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria representing three novel species were isolated from the female reproductive tract. The proposed type strains for each species were designated UPII 199-6, KA00182 and BV3C16-1. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing indicated that the bacterial isolates were members of the genus .

Objective: The objective of the study was to confirm the efficacy and safety of Astodrimer 1% Gel to prevent recurrence of bacterial vaginosis.
Study Design: 864 women with a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis and a history of recurrent bacterial vaginosis were enrolled in North America and first received oral metronidazole (500 mg twice daily for 7 days). Women successfully treated with metronidazole were randomly assigned 1:1 to Astodrimer 1% Gel (N = 295) or placebo (N = 291) at a dose of 5 g vaginally every second day for 16 weeks, and followed for a further 12 weeks off-treatment.
The Nugent score is the reference standard for bacterial vaginosis (BV) diagnosis but has not been validated in postmenopausal women. We compared relative abundances from 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing of vaginal microbiota with Nugent score in cohorts of premenopausal (n = 220) and postmenopausal (n = 144) women. In premenopausal women, 33 taxa were significantly correlated with Nugent score, including the classic BV-associated taxa Gardnerella, Atopobium, Sneathia, Megasphaera, and Prevotella.

We describe rates of occult neoplasia in the largest single-institution prospective cohort of women undergoing RRSO, including those with mutations in non-BRCA homologous repair (HRR) genes.
Methods: Participants undergoing RRSO enrolled in a prospective tissue bank between 1999 and 2017.
Salpingectomy with interval oophorectomy has gained traction as an ovarian cancer prevention strategy, but is not currently recommended for high risk women. Nevertheless, some choose this approach. We aimed to understand risk perception and plans for oophorectomy in BRCA1 and BRCA2 (BRCA) mutation carriers choosing salpingectomy for ovarian cancer prevention.

We assess the published evidence for systemic therapies for atopic dermatitis and amalgamate this with real-world experience. Discussions are centred on when systemic therapy should be considered, which drug(s), what dose, how to sequence or combine these therapies, how long they should be continued for and what is considered success.

MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, ERIC, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Web of Science, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) databases were searched in this review. Studies included peer-reviewed, full-text studies from high-income countries, published in English between January 1, 2000, and January 12, 2018, that evaluated interventions to increase water access or consumption in children aged 0 to 5 years.

This association has led to recommendations to assess fallopian tubes for intraepithelial atypia. However, the diagnostic reproducibility of a diagnosis of intraepithelial neoplasia is unclear.

Aim: To evaluate methotrexate (MTX) for paediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) while on and post-treatment.
Methods: Medical records of children prescribed MTX for AD between 2011 and 2016 at Starship Children's Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand, were reviewed for demographics, dose and duration of MTX and hospitalisations for AD. In the follow-up by telephone in 2017, parents of the patients reported response on MTX, AD relapses and use of additional systemic treatment and completed a patient-oriented eczema measure (POEM).
Objective: The presence of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) and defects in homologous recombination (HR) are each important prognostic factors in ovarian carcinoma (OC). We characterized the association between HR deficiency (HRD) and the presence of TILs in a cohort of OC patients and the relative contribution to overall survival.
Methods: Patients with carcinoma of the ovary, fallopian tube, or peritoneum were prospectively enrolled.
The Australasian Psoriasis Collaboration has developed a clinical practice narrative with respect to the relationship between psoriasis, its treatment and infection. The cutaneous microbiome of patients with psoriasis is different to those without psoriasis, although the significance of this is unclear. Whilst a wide range of microorganisms has been associated with psoriasis (including β-haemolytic streptococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Candida albicans, Chlamydia psittaci, human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus), there is limited evidence that antimicrobial therapy is of direct benefit in preventing flares of psoriasis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPatients with psoriasis have an increased risk of cancer, which may be due to impaired immune surveillance, immune modulatory treatments, chronic inflammation and/or co-risk factors such as obesity. The increase in treatment-independent solid cancers, including urinary/bladder cancers, oropharynx/larynx, liver/gallbladder and colon/rectal cancers, seem to be linked to alcohol and smoking. Lung cancer and nonmelanoma skin cancer are also increased in patients with psoriasis.

Study Design: Prospective study of patients seen at a tertiary medical center. Following consent, patients completed an SI and preoperative serum was collected for individual markers (CA 125) and a second-generation FDA-cleared biomarker test (MIA2G).
Background: The majority of early preterm births are associated with intrauterine infections, which are thought to occur when microbes traffic into the uterus from the lower genital tract and seed the placenta. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is associated with heterogeneous bacterial communities in the vagina and is linked to preterm birth. The extent to which trafficking into the uterus of normal and BV-associated vaginal bacteria occurs is unknown.

Despite having little formal education, community health workers (CHWs) are integral to successful public health interventions in India and other low- and middle-income countries that have a shortage of trained health professionals. Training CHWs to screen for and manage chronic hypertension, with support from trained clinicians, offers an excellent opportunity for effecting systemwide change in hypertension-related burden of disease.
