Using an endothelium-specific progeria mouse model, we identify a novel, endothelium-specific microRNA (miR) signature linked to the p53-senescence pathway and a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). Progerin-expressing endothelial cells exert profound cell-non-autonomous effects initiating senescence in non-endothelial cell populations and causing immune cell infiltrates around blood vessels.

Effective surgical treatment of endometriosis requires complete excision of endometriosis and in same case may require segmental rectosigmoid resection.
Methods: Between December 1997 and October 2003, 55 patients with rectovaginal endometriosis underwent a combined laparoscopic vaginal technique.
The use of anti-L1-cell adhesion molecule monoclonal antibodies (anti-L1CAM-mAb) in an endometriosis epithelial cell line Z12 led to a statistically significant decrease in cell proliferation and cell invasion and to an inhibition of the adhesion compared with unspecific IgG-Ab treated and untreated cells. Because it increases the cell invasion and adhesion which consequently aggravates the disease, L1 could possibly promote endometriosis development; thus, further studies should evaluate the possible use of anti-L1-mAb in an animal endometriosis model.
