Sonodynamic therapy, with inertial acoustic cavitation threshold and low-dose radiation in the presence of sensitizers, may provide significant effects for cancer treatment, potentially overcoming resistance encountered with single therapies.
Methods: MCF7 breast cancer cells were subjected to sonodynamic therapy either alone or combined with ionizing radiation, gold nanoparticles coated with apigenin, and methylene blue.
Background: The chronic inflammatory condition known as multiple sclerosis (MS) causes inflammation and demyelination in the central nervous system (CNS). The activation of multiple cell types, including the CNS's resident immune cells called microglia, is a component of the immunological response in MS. Recently, the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM) family has emerged as a crucial player in modulating microglial function and subsequent neuroinflammation.

This study presents the fabrication of a uniquely designed polyamide (PA) thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes with ultrahigh Li/Mg selectivity and enhanced water flux by covalently incorporating mixed ligands functionalized silica nanoparticles (F-SiONPs) into the selective PA layer and covalently bonding them to the membrane surface. In this strategy, bare silica nanoparticles (SiONPs) were functionalized with mixed superhydrophilic ligands, including primary amine and quaternary ammonium groups, resulting in a highly positive surface charge primarily from the quaternary ammonium groups and enabling covalent conjugation via amine groups.

Methods: A dataset of 700 prostate cancer patients (mean age: 67.6 ± 5.
In the current research, the silicon carbon oxynitride (SiCON) thin film was deposited on the silicon (Si) substrate by radio frequency (RF) reactive magnetron sputtering method. To comprehensively assess the impact of nitrogen flux rate on thin film characteristics, a suite of advanced analytical methods was utilized. The GIXRD analysis confirmed that the SiCON thin film is amorphous in structure.

These effects also include neuroprotection in epilepsy models, as evidenced by a reduction in seizure-like behavior, cell death in specific hippocampal regions, and lowered neuroinflammatory markers. In AD, SA treatment enhances memory, reverses cognitive deficits, and attenuates astrocyte activation.

To achieve this, a novel attention-based ResNet method, 3D-Attention-Resent-SVR, is proposed to accurately estimate brain age and distinguish between Cognitively Normal (CN) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) individuals by computing the brain age gap (BAG). Unlike conventional methods, which often rely on single datasets, our approach addresses potential biases by employing four datasets for training and testing.

People with long COVID (long haulers) often deal with physical and mental stressors. Long haulers' psychological resilience could play a key role in coping with these stressors in intercorrelation with psychosocial resources.

Due to pandemic mitigation recommendations, social media was relied upon for various aspects of daily life, likely with differences of usage between genders.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the role and functions of social media in the lives of long-hauler women.

Objective: Musculoskeletal discomforts (MSDs) are prevalent occupational health issues that are associated with a wide range of risk factors. This study aimed to investigate some of the occupational hidden risk factors and the mediating role of sleep in work-related musculoskeletal discomforts.
Methods: In a cross-sectional study, the role of job stress and shift work as two hidden risk factors and sleep problems as the mediator in work-related musculoskeletal discomforts was investigated in 302 healthcare workers using the path analysis models.
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of emotional schema therapy on psychological distress, severity and frequency of symptoms in women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Materials And Methods: This semi-experimental two-group three-stage (pre and post-test and two-month follow-up) study was done on 30 women of 18-50 years old with IBS. They were randomly assigned to two groups (experimental and control).
Objective: To analyze prognostic factors in children with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) who have been treated in a single center in the last 27 years.
Methods: We studied 126 children (≤18 years old) who have been treated with near-total thyroidectomy followed by radioiodine therapy and thyroid hormone replacement. Follow-up of the patients was done 2, 6, and 12 months after treatment and then by yearly evaluation.
Rationale: Recent reports have shown increased cannabis use among women, leading to growing concerns about cannabis use disorder (CUD). Some evidence suggests a faster progression to addiction in women, known as the "telescoping effect." While there is preclinical evidence suggesting biological sex influences cannabinoid effects, human research remains scant.

Here, we explored NF1 patients' lived experiences by conducting semi-structured, in-depth interviews with 21 NF1 patients and 16 care providers. The thematic analysis uncovered dimensions of NF1 patients' social lives at different ecological levels, including their relationships with family, friends, teachers, coworkers, providers, and society.

Because of its polycystic, biodegradable, biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and non-allergenic properties, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and glycine (Gly) have been actively investigated as natural biopolymers for decades. Various BSA and Gly-based nanocarriers with unique features for CUR delivery, such as magnetic ferrite nanoparticles, are being developed (MNPs).

Here, we designed a parallel randomized clinical trial to characterize the PK and PD of the combined preparations of LT4 + SR-T3 in hypothyroid patients.
Methods: Radioiodine-treated hypothyroid patients over 20 years of age, who attained euthyroidism with LT4 monotherapy were recruited from the Endocrine Clinic in Tehran.
Background: Substance use has become a critical health concern during the COVID-19 pandemic, and emerging attention has been paid to people with the persistent symptoms of COVID-19 (COVID-19 long haulers) due to their high vulnerability. However, scant research has investigated their substance use and relevant psychosocial factors. The current study was to (1) examine substance use behaviors (i.

In recent years, various types of radiosensitizers have been developed to address the challenges of cancer radiotherapy. Here, platinum-functionalized oxygenated single-walled carbon nanotubes (O-SWCNTs-Pt) coated with folic acid (FA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) (O-SWCNTs-Pt-BSA-FA) were synthesized, characterized, and used as radiosensitizers to improve the therapeutic efficacy of X-rays in a mouse model of breast cancer (4T1) in vitro. The nanosensitizer was characterized by different techniques, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible (UV-visible), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry.
