Mature cystic teratoma (MCT) is the most common type of ovarian germ cell tumor occurring in females of reproductive age. It is typically benign, but rare malignant transformations have been reported in 1-2% of the cases. Among a wide variety of malignancies arising in MCTs, high grade lymphomas are the least common.

However, it remains hampered by a need for vectors to express reprogramming factors (Oct-3/4, Klf4, Sox2, c-Myc; OKSM) in selected organs. Here, we report OKSM delivery vectors based on pseudotyped Adeno-associated virus (AAV).

We aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors for PAD in people living with HIV (PLWH) compared with uninfected controls. We hypothesized that prevalence of PAD would be higher among PLWH than among controls independent of traditional cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors.

Here, we demonstrate that mesencephalic trigeminal neurons (MTN) which are the only somatosensory neurons whose cell bodies are located within the CNS co-express Npr2 and cGKI. Afferents of MTNs form Y-shaped branches in rhombomere 2 where the ligand CNP is expressed.

The implantation of a covered stent graft is an effective treatment option for bleeding control. However, the external iliac and common femoral arteries are exposed to flexion of the hip joint.

Objectives: We tested the hypothesis that plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels are causally associated with risk of Crohn disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC).
Design, Setting, Patients, And Interventions: We used a Mendelian randomization design to study 120,013 individuals from the Copenhagen City Heart Study, the Copenhagen General Population Study, and a Copenhagen-based cohort of patients with IBD.
Objective: Gout is the most common form of inflammatory arthritis and is caused by hyperuricaemia. Some studies have found a reduction in plasma urate with vitamin C supplementation. We tested the hypothesis that high plasma vitamin C is causally associated with low plasma urate and low risk of hyperuricaemia, using a Mendelian randomization approach.

Based on pre- and post-bronchodilator spirometry, self-reported asthma and smoking history, participants were subdivided into healthy never-smokers (n=1649), healthy ever-smokers (n=1581), asthma (n=449), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (n=404), asthma-COPD overlap (ACO) (n=138) and nonspecific airflow limitation (n=456).

We assessed prevalence and risk factors for emphysema in PLWH and uninfected controls. Spirometry and chest computed tomography scans were obtained in PLWH from the Copenhagen Comorbidity in HIV Infection (COCOMO) study and in uninfected controls from the Copenhagen General Population Study (CGPS) who were >40 years.

By transforming a 2D microring lattice into an equivalent array of coupled waveguides with periodic boundary conditions, we explicitly derive the Floquet-Bloch Hamiltonian of the system and determine the winding numbers characterizing the band topology and bulk-edge correspondence of the lattice. By varying the coupling strengths between adjacent resonators, we show that a 2D microring lattice can support both anomalous Floquet insulator edge modes and Chern insulator edge modes over a wide range of coupling parameters.

The pure and composite hydrogels of chitosan with sodium alginate were synthesized at various pH values and characterized by rheology and IR-spectroscopy. Chitosan shows gelation at neutral and basic pH while sodium alginate remains in solution form at all pH values. By careful adjustment of mixing weight fraction ratio and pH, an array of hydrogels with modulated structural dynamics and viscoelasticity, mechanical strength and encapsulation capacity were obtained.

Acid-soluble collagen was extracted and purified from fish scales. The design was innovated to molecularly tailor the surface charge sites of the nano-apatite providing chemical bonds with the collagen matrix via microwave irradiation technique.

The aim of this study was to test the relevance of 25(OH)D for type 2 diabetes using genetically instrumented differences in plasma 25(OH)D concentrations.
Methods And Findings: Data were available on four 25(OH)D single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs; n = 82,464), plasma 25(OH)D concentrations (n = 13,565), and cases with diabetes (n = 5,565) in the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB).
Pioglitazone, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR-γ) agonist, is a therapeutic drug for diabetes. Present study investigated the interaction between PPAR-γ and alpha adrenoceptors in modulating vasopressor responses to Angiotensin II (Ang II) and adrenergic agonists, in diabetic & non-diabetic Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (SHRs). Diabetes was induced with an i.

We tested the hypothesis that among individuals with COPD, those with low concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D have a poorer prognosis compared to those with normal concentrations. We studied 35,153 individuals from the general population aged 20-100 years with 25-hydroxyvitamin D measurements and spirometry, the Copenhagen City Heart Study [median follow-up 21 years (range 13 days-36 years)] and the Copenhagen General Population Study [7.

Furthermore, in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is often caused by smoking, there is often systemic inflammation that is linked to lung function impairment. However, the causal pathways linking smoking, systemic inflammation, and airflow limitation are still unknown.

With an increase in the rate of cesarean sections, along with better awareness and improvement in sonographic diagnosis, the number and detection of scar pregnancies are on the rise. Because of its early invasion of the myometrium, usually in the first trimester, CSP is considered to be potentially lethal, leading to high risks of uterine rupture.

Study Design: Cross-sectional analytical study.
Place And Duration Of Study: Radiology Department of the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi from January 2014 to December 2015.
Objectives: The present work aimed to design and synthesize pH-sensitive cross-linked Ge/SA hydrogels using different ratios of each polymer, and to investigate the effect of each polymer on dynamic, equilibrium swelling, and release pattern of cetirizine hydrochloride, which was selected as a model drug.
Materials And Methods: These gelatin and sodium alginate hydrogels were prepared at room temperature through free radical polymerization using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinker. These polymeric composites were used as model systems to envisage various important characterizations.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of “X- ray examination of surgically resected specimen‘‘ in assessing complete local excision (CLE). Materials and Methods: In this retrospective cross sectional study, data were collected for all female breast cancer cases who underwent breast-conserving surgery after needle localization of mammographically visible disease. Males, patients with mammographically invisible disease and cases with benign or inconclusive histopathology, those undergoing modified radical mastectomy and individuals with dense breast parenchyma were excluded.
