Improving the quality of psychiatric residency training in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences by learning teams and changing curriculum implementation: An action research study.

Background: The deficiencies in the training of psychiatric residents in Isfahan, including the segregation of residency programs by year, the confinement of training to hospital departments, and the residents' limited exposure to the perspectives of other faculty members, had not been given significant attention. However, the inevitable alterations in the Department of Psychiatry and the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic have brought these issues to the forefront, highlighting the need for program modifications. The objective of this study is to enhance the quality of psychiatric residency training by changing the implementation of the curriculum.

Play therapy and storytelling intervention on children's social skills with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.

Background: Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neuro-behavioral disorder that negatively affects educational, relational, and occupational aspects of one's life. Although many children diagnosed with this disorder can benefit from taking medication, particularly for core symptoms, play therapy and storytelling can be seen as engaging, stimulating, and more compatible with children's developmental needs. The social skills of these children are as vital as other symptoms and can be better addressed with cognitive-based art therapy interventions.

A Comparison of the Anti-Anxiety Effects of Oral Ketamine and Fluvoxamine in Children with Separation Anxiety Disorder Manifesting as School Refusal.

Background: Children suffer from a high prevalence of anxiety problems that require prompt treatment. It has been demonstrated that ketamine offers rapid anti-anxiety effects. This study aimed to evaluate ketamine's anti-anxiety impact in the treatment of children with school-refusal separation anxiety disorder.

Effectiveness of Parents-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms, Obesity and Self-Esteem of Overweight Children with Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder.

Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common behavioral problems that cause hyperactivity, attention deficits, academic failure, and emotional and behavioral problems in preschool and elementary school that is often hidden from the parents' eyes. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of parent-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) on ADHD symptoms (including attention deficit disorder, restlessness, and impulsivity), overweight and self-esteem of 6-11-year-old obese children with attention deficit hyperactivity in Isfahan.

Materials And Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out on 40 children aged 6-11 years with ADHD and overweight or obesity (above the 85 percentile in weight for age, height, and sex diagram) that their parents referred to Isfahan child and adolescent psychiatric clinic of Ali Asghar Hospital in 2015.

Comparison of parent adolescent scores on Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire.

Background: Child and adolescent psychiatry has benefited from the application of self-report questionnaires because it is short, less costly and easy to apply. So we select the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and evaluate the agreement between the self-report and parent report form.
