Appropriate positioning of the head is a crucial step for a successful intubation. Laryngoscopy is a commonly used method to facilitate the intubation process. This study evaluated the quality of intubation and its difficulty in sniff and neutral position.

Ultra-Sensitive Absorption-Based Gas Detecting Using Graphene-Covered Periodic Photonic Crystal Slabs Resonating Under Critical Coupling Condition at Mid-Infrared Frequencies.

In this paper, a novel chemical sensor is presented based on graphene deposited on the periodic pattern of the photonic crystal. The sensor structure is very simple to fabricate. Also, the proposed sensor thickness in the order of the nanometer makes it compact and suitable for integrating with optical equipment.

Weaning of septic patients from the ventilator in the intensive care unit by attention approach to common antibiotic regimens.

Background: Sepsis is a chronic blood infection that is more common in patients with ventilatory and disability. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of common antibiotic regimens on weaning sepsis patients from mechanical ventilator.

Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, we classified 70 sepsis patients under mechanical ventilation which sedates with midazolam and do not take muscle relaxants into two groups: meropenem and levofloxacin versus meropenem, levofloxacin, and clindamycin.

Lidocaine Plus Morphine Versus Lidocaine Plus Paracetamol for Bier Block: A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: Intravenous regional anesthesia (Bier block) is widely used as an anesthetic technique for operations of short duration of the distal upper or lower extremities. We compared the efficacy of intravenous regional anesthesia with lidocaine plus paracetamol versus lidocaine plus systemic morphine for short-duration hand and forearm surgeries.

Design: A double-blind randomized controlled trial with two parallel arms: lidocaine plus morphine (control) and lidocaine plus paracetamol were carried out at a University hospital.

Modeling and optimization of radish root extract drying as peroxidase source using spouted bed dryer.

The main advantages of the dried enzymes are the lower cost of storage and longer time of preservation for industrial applications. In this study, the spouted bed dryer was utilized for drying the garden radish (Raphanus sativus L.) root extract as a cost-effective source of the peroxidase enzyme.
