This study aimed to develop oral lipidic hybrids of amikacin sulfate (AMK), incorporating thiolated chitosan as a P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibitor to enhance intestinal absorptivity and bioavailability. Three formulations were designed: PEGylated Liposomes, Chitosan-functionalized PEGylated (Chito-PEGylated) Lipidic Hybrids, and Thiolated Chito-PEGylated Lipidic Hybrids. The physical characteristics of nanovesicles were assessed.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a potentially lethal condition characterized by transient regional systolic dysfunction in the absence of coronary artery ischemia. This syndrome predominantly affects postmenopausal women and is often preceded by physical or emotional stress and often presents with symptoms of acute coronary syndrome, chest pain, and shortness of breath. Although the effects can be transient, takotsubo cardiomyopathy still results in an 8-12% rate of in-hospital mortality, with cardiogenic shock being the most common cause of death.

However, the effects of concurrent use of other medications that similarly increase blood glucose level, such as thiazide diuretics, are not well studied. This study aimed to evaluate the association of concurrent use of thiazide diuretics and statins on DM progression, cardiovascular and renal outcomes, and death in patients with DM.

Probenecid (Prob) is a well-known FDA-approved therapy for gout owing to its uricosuric effect. The present study evaluated the use of Prob for BPH as a COX-2 inhibitor.

Epithelial Ovarian cancer (OvCa) is the leading cause of death from gynecologic malignancies in the United States, with most patients diagnosed at late stages. High-grade serous cancer (HGSC) is the most common and lethal subtype. Despite aggressive surgical debulking and chemotherapy, recurrence of chemo-resistant disease occurs in ~80% of patients.

Galangin (GAL) is a flavonoid-based phytochemical with pronounced protective effects in various neurological disorders. However, its impact on DOX-provoked neurotoxicity has not been clarified.

In this systematic review, we searched PubMed and Embase for large TAVI studies and registries to identify the incidence, presentation, microbiology, risk factors, and outcomes of IE in this population. After application of the selection criteria and quality assessment, 8 studies representing 255,310 TAVR cases and 4218 cases of IE qualified for this review.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by an elevated mean pulmonary artery pressure of 20 mm Hg or above. PH is a prevalent condition among women of reproductive age and is linked with poor prognosis during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a stressful event and complicates the management and prognosis in patients with PH.

The clinical diagnosis of ear conditions is suffered from restricted accuracy due to the increased dependency on otolaryngologist expertise, patient complaint, blurring of the otoscopic images, and complexity of lesions definition. There is a high requirement for improved diagnosis algorithms based on otoscopic image processing.

This paper describes the detailed construction and characterization of a newly designed optical nano-biosensor to detect CA-125 accurately and sensitively. The fabricated sensor consists of a nano-gold thin film doped into a matrix of sol-gel, exhibiting a centered fluorescence band at 423 nm when excited at 340 nm.

It carries an extremely high risk for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality as it impacts more than two-thirds of the left ventricle. Prediction of LMCAD in the right clinical setting is important for the selection of the proper treatment strategies.

Aim: To determine the prevalence of stress among HCWs involved in the management of critically ill COVID-19 patient, identify the factors associated with stress, and highlight the availability of psychological support provided to HCWs.
Methods: A cross-sectional multicenter, international study using a web-based questionnaire of 27 questions including the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10) for assessment of stress level.

The rapid spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has become a worldwide pandemic and affected more than 15 million patients reported in 27 countries. Therefore, the computational biology carrying this virus that correlates with the human population urgently needs to be understood. In this paper, the classification of the human protein sequences of COVID-19, according to the country, is presented based on machine learning algorithms.
