Fast Removal of Methylene Blue via Adsorption-Photodegradation on TiO/SBA-15 Synthesized by Slow Calcination.

TiO/SBA-15 photocatalysts were successfully prepared by impregnating low loading titania to SBA-15 via slow calcination. The photocatalyst is efficient for fast methylene blue removal via adsorption and photodegradation methods. The impregnation of low TiO loading via slow calcination enhanced TiO dispersion that preserved the SBA-15 porosity and uniform morphology.

Concurrent validity of the Arabic version of General Medication Adherence Scale using two validated indirect adherences measures in Saudi patients with non-communicable diseases.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the concurrent validity of the Arabic version of the General Medication Adherence Scale (GMAS) using two validated scales namely Adherence to Refills and Medications Scale (ARMS) and Medication Adherence Rating Scale (MARS) in Saudi patients with non-communicable diseases.

Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted for 2 months in out-patient departments at a tertiary care hospital in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The study collected data from patients with chronic illnesses through convenience sampling.

Adolescent with severe granulomatosis with polyangiitis: a case report.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is a rare vasculitis among adolescents. Its pulmonary manifestations may mimic tuberculosis. We report the case of a 16-years-old female patient with multiple excavated lung nodules revealed by a chronic cough, hemoptysis, epistaxis and weight loss.

Prevalence, reasons, and determinants of dietary supplements use among undergraduate female students of health and non-health colleges in a Saudi public university.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to gather data from female students studying in both health and non-health colleges at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University and report the prevalence, reasons, and determinants of dietary supplements use.

Methods: A month-long cross-sectional study was conducted in health and non-health colleges affiliated to Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Convenient sampling was employed, and the data was gathered through an online survey using the English and Arabic versions of the Dietary Supplement Questionnaire (DSQ).

[Pleuro-pneumopathy revealing an unusual inhaled bronchial foreign body].

Inhalation of foreign bodies is not often observed in young adults, and may go unnoticed. A 37-year-old patient, with no significant medical history, was admitted for right basal pleuro-pneumopathy. Endoscopic examination revealed the presence of a brittle yellowish formation.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell-Based Therapy: New Perspectives and Challenges.

Stem cells have been the focus of intense research opening up new possibilities for the treatment of various diseases. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells with relevant immunomodulatory properties and are thus considered as a promising new strategy for immune disease management. To enhance their efficiency, several issues related to both MSC biology and functions are needed to be identified and, most importantly, well clarified.

Empowering the immune fate of bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells: gene and protein changes.

Objective And Design: Bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (BM-MSCs) are referred as a promising immunotherapeutic cell product. New approaches using empowered MSCs should be developed as for the treatment or prevention of different immunological diseases. Such preconditioning by new licensing stimuli will empower the immune fate of BM-MSCs and, therefore, promote a better and more efficient biological.

Exacerbation of Aging-Associated and Instability-Induced Murine Osteoarthritis With Deletion of D Prostanoid Receptor 1, a Prostaglandin D Receptor.

Objective: D prostanoid receptor 1 (DP1), a receptor for prostaglandin D , plays important roles in inflammation and cartilage metabolism. However, its role in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA) remains unknown. This study was undertaken to explore the roles of DP1 in the development of OA in murine models and to evaluate the efficacy of a DP1 selective agonist in the treatment of OA.

Hydatid disease is the most common human cestodosis. Pulmonary localization is the 2 largest visceral locations after liver localization. The imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis and staging.

[Localised bronchiectasis revealing carcinoid tumor].

We here report the case of a 32-year old female patient with a 5-year history of recurrent purulent bronchial syndrome. Radiological assessment showed a left basithoracic finely ringed bright areas related to cylindrical bronchiectasis located in the left lower lobe. Flexible bronchoscopy showed smooth surface, reddish tumor obstructing the entrance of the left basal pyramid.

[Diffuse and calcified nodular opacities].

Pulmonary adenocarcinoma is difficult to identify right away with respect to anamnestic and even to radiological data. We here report the case of a woman with dyspnea. Radiological examination showed disseminated micronodular opacity confluent in both lung fields with calcifications in certain locations.

Multiple primary cancers are relatively rare. The association between lung and breast cancer is exceptional and requires genetic research and predisposing factors. We report the case of a female patient of 43years, hospitalized for atelectasis of the left lung with breast lumps.

Bronchiectasis: a bacteriological profile.

The occurrence of bronchiectasis can involve a combination of many environmental factors, including infection. The aim of our work is to determine the bacteriological profile of bronchiectasis. This is a retrospective study of 100 patients hospitalized in between January 2010 and July 2013.

Histone methylation plays an important role in epigenetic gene regulation. In this study, we investigated the roles of histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9) methylation in interleukin 1β (IL-1β)-induced mPGES-1 expression in human chondrocytes.

[Small cell lung cancer associated with paraneoplastic bullous pemphigoid].

The broncho-pulmonary small cell carcinoma is the most common cancer provider paraneoplastic syndrome especially neurological and endocrine but also cutaneous syndrome. Paraneoplastic dermatosis do not result from a direct extension of cancer and are not metastases, but their presence is suggestive of an underlying tumor. The evolution of the dermatosis is parallel to that of cancer: treating cancer results in the regression of cutaneous manifestations.
