Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of intracameral administration of Mydrane® in children undergoing lens surgery.
Methods: We set up a single center prospective cohort trial including 40 consecutive patients between 8 weeks and 17 years old who were planned for lens surgery, including cataract, persistent fetal vasculature or lens subluxation. We injected 0.
Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a life-threatening respiratory condition with high mortality rates, accounting for 10% of all intensive care unit admissions. Lung ultrasound (LUS) as diagnostic tool for acute respiratory failure has garnered widespread recognition and was recently incorporated into the updated definitions of ARDS. This raised the hypothesis that LUS is a reliable method for diagnosing ARDS.

With many upcoming therapies for patients with facioscapulohumeral dystrophy (FSHD), the frequency of biopsies in FSHD patients is expected to increase. Muscle biopsies were performed either in the outpatient clinic using a Bergström needle (BN-biopsy) or in a Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine (MRI-biopsy).

Subjects And Methods: We conducted an observational cross-sectional study from April 2015 until December 2016 in which we recruited 539 adolescent boys aged 11-16 years. A clinical examination including testicular size measurement by ultrasonography was performed.

Plantar pressure simulation driven by integrated 3D motion capture data, using both a finite element and a discrete element model, is compared for ten healthy and ten diabetic neuropathic subjects. The simulated peak pressure deviated on average between 16.7 and 34.

Multibody simulations of human motion require representative models of the anatomical structures. A model that captures the complexity of the foot is still lacking. In the present work, two detailed 3D multibody foot-ankle models generated based on CT scans using a semi-automatic tool are described.

Using global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals for accurate timing and time transfer requires the knowledge of all electric delays of the signals inside the receiving system. GNSS stations dedicated to timing or time transfer are classically calibrated only for Global Positioning System (GPS) signals. This paper proposes a procedure to determine the hardware delays of a GNSS receiving station for Galileo signals, once the delays of the GPS signals are known.

The LISA application, developed by the University Hospitals Leuven, permits referring physicians to consult the electronic medical records of their patients over the internet in a highly secure way. We decided to completely change the way we secured the application, discard the existing web application and build a completely new application, based on the in-house developed hospital information system, used in the University Hospitals Leuven. The result is a fat Java client, running on a Windows Terminal Server, secured by a commercial SSL-VPN solution.

We set up Web-access to the central electronic medical record of the University Hospitals Leuven. Purpose was to enable external physicians to more actively participate in the care process as full members of the multidisciplinary treatment team. They get a view on the complete care process in the hospital, and can access results as these become available instead of being provided summary information post factum.
