Background: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic pain disorder associated with financial burden, decreased work productivity and absenteeism. Occupational stressors and specific employment factors may contribute to the severity of FM.

Aims: To determine if occupation type or employment status correlates with FM diagnostic and severity parameters, as assessed via validated instruments including tender points (TP), Widespread Pain Index (WPI), Symptom Severity (SS) and pain regions.

Results: In total, 80 of the eligible 194 participants completed the survey (nurses = 42, PCPs = 38).

With improvement in the cure rates for diffuse large B cell lymphoma, the question of surveillance imaging in patients who achieve complete remission after the initial therapy has become relevant. Some of the clinical practice guidelines recommend surveillance scanning. However, several studies have reported no benefit in overall survival with scans.

Background: The optimal strategy for revascularization in infrainguinal chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) remains debatable. Comparative trials are scarce, and daily decisions are often made using anecdotal or low-quality evidence.

Methods: We searched multiple databases through May 7, 2017, for prospective studies with at least 1-year follow-up that evaluated patient-relevant outcomes of infrainguinal revascularization procedures in adults with CLTI.

Morbidly adherent placentation is associated with increased maternal morbidity and mortality. Recently, there has been mounting evidence supporting the benefits of a standardized multidisciplinary approach at tertiary teaching hospitals. Our objective was to estimate the impact of the implementation of a similar program at a high-volume private community hospital.

Aim: Maternal corticosteroid administration in pregnancy is known to enhance fetal lung maturity in at risk fetuses. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that corticosteroid therapy alters fetal pulmonary blood flow in pregnancies at risk for preterm birth (PTB).

Material And Methods: We prospectively evaluated main fetal pulmonary artery (MPA) blood flow in pregnant women at risk for PTB and treated with corticosteroids (betamethasone), compared to an uncomplicated cohort without steroid therapy.

Objective: Cerebrovascular complications that are associated with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (preeclampsia, chronic hypertension [CHTN], and gestational hypertension [GHTN]) are believed to be associated with impaired cerebral autoregulation, which is a physiologic process that maintains blood flow at an appropriate level despite changes in blood pressure. The nature of autoregulation dysfunction in these conditions is unclear. We therefore evaluated autoregulation in 30 patients with preeclampsia, 30 patients with CHTN, and 20 patients with GHTN and compared them with a control group of 30 normal pregnant women.

Objective: This study was undertaken to evaluate the relationship between chorionic villus sampling at 10-13 weeks' gestational age and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Study Design: The prevalence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in women with singleton gestations, undergoing transcervical or transabdominal chorionic villus sampling between 10 weeks 0 days' and 13 weeks 6 days' gestational age was compared with that of control women with singleton gestations having first-trimester screening with nuchal translucency and biochemistry between 11 weeks 0 days' and 13 weeks 6 days' gestational age. Patients having invasive prenatal diagnosis (chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis) were excluded from the control group.

Cladribine treatment of hairy cell leukemia (HCL) is complicated by neutropenic fever in 42% of patients despite documented infections being relatively uncommon. We performed a study of priming filgrastim followed by cladribine and then filgrastim again to determine if filgrastim would lead to a reduction of neutropenia and febrile episodes. Thirty-five patients received filgrastim and cladribine and were compared with 105 historic controls treated with cladribine alone.

We describe four families with patients with type I Gaucher disease exhibiting previously undescribed mutations of the glucocerebrosidase gene. We found Cherokee Indian woman to have a G-->C substitution in cDNA nucleotide 354, predicting a lysine-->aspargine substitution in amino acid 79 of the processed protein. In a Greek family, we found an allele with a C-->T substitution in nucleotide 475 giving rise to an arginine-->tryptophan substitution at amino acid 120.
