Objectives: Preoperative consultation is usually not performed before insertion of a totally implantable venous access device (TIVAD). In our experience, an incomplete preoperative assessment, a predictable medical condition contraindicating surgery, or no-show patients the day of surgery led to several surgery cancellations.
