Orofacial pain has been a prevalent symptom in the worldwide population, which may cause restrictions in daily activities and, consequently, have a great impact on the well-being of affected individuals. Photobiomodulation using light sources, such as low-level laser or light emitting diodes, with different wavelengths, has been widely used in the last years, in addition to being a noninvasive, low-cost resource and reducing pain. This study aimed at evaluating the effect of photobiomodulation as a protocol treatment to prevent facial muscle discomfort after long-term clinical procedures.

Purpose: The purpose was to perform a quality-of-life survey in patients with skeletal malocclusion before undergoing orthognathic surgery, as well as delineate the sociodemographic profile and detect factors that may alter the quality of life.
Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in patients who sought care at the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo Medical School (N = 106; average age, 27.2 years).
