Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is physiopathologically marked by an accumulation of beta-amyloid peptide (Aβ), hyperphosphorylation of tau protein, inflammation, and oxidative stress in the brain tissue. While new drugs for AD have been approved, novel treatments are still needed. Eplingiella fruticosa (EF) has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may be beneficial against AD.

Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) is the primary arthropod vector responsible for the transmission of dengue, which is present in more than one hundred countries. The application of synthetic larvicides is one of the most common strategies used for dengue control, but their prolonged use can cause larvicide resistance or tolerance, environmental damage, and have toxic effects on human and animal health. Thus, faced with this problem, there have been increasing efforts to find alternative larvicides against Ae.

Orofacial pain affects 10-15% of adults and can severely impact quality of life. Despite ongoing treatment challenges, monoterpene alpha-phellandrene (PHE) shows potential therapeutic benefits. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an inclusion complex of PHE with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (PHE-HPβCD) for treating orofacial pain.

Background: Arrhythmias are one manifestation of the cardiotoxicity that results from doxorubicin (Doxo) administration. Although cardiotoxicity is an anticipated outcome in anticancer therapies, there is still a lack of treatment options available for its effective management. This study sought to evaluate the possible cardioprotective effect of complex d-limonene (DL) plus hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HβDL) during treatment with Doxo, focusing on the arrhythmic feature.

The formulations composed of water, Citrus sinensis essential oil (CSEO), PPG-5-CETETH-20, and Olive oil ester PEG-7 were obtained and characterized by polarized light microscopy (PLM), rheology, small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS), Fourier transform infrared coupled with an attenuated total reflection accessory (FTIR-ATR) and in vitro assays: bioadhesion, drug release, skin permeation, and retention tests. As a result, changes in component proportions led to several transparent viscous systems with an anisotropic profile.

Introduction: Chronic pain, nocturnal cramps, and sleep alterations are prevalent symptoms and signals in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease patients. Sleep and pain are bidirectionally related and physical therapy can improve the binomial sleep and pain/nocturnal cramps. Therefore, we hypothesized that the application of a specific physical therapy program for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease would improve sleep quality, pain perception, and nocturnal cramps.

Although the PD etiology remains poorly understood, evidence suggests a main role of oxidative stress on this process. Lippia grata Schauer, known as "alecrim-do-mato", "alecrim-de-vaqueiro", "alecrim-da-chapada", is a native bush from tropical areas mainly distributed throughout the Central and South America.

UV radiation can cause damages, such as erythema, skin photoaging, and carcinogenesis. The adoption of protective measures against sun exposure is essential to prevent these damages, and the interest in using natural substances as an alternative for photoprotection is growing. Thus, hesperetin with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties is a promising substance to be used with photochemopreventive action and to protect the skin from damage induced by UV radiation.

Introduction: Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is an inherited neuropathy that presents two main forms - type 1 and type 2 -, differentiated by the speed of the nervous conduction. Our goal was to assess sleep in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and its relationship with pain perception and nocturnal cramps.
Material And Methods: This was a case-control study.
Inflammatory arthritis is the most prevalent chronic inflammatory disease worldwide. The pathology of the disease is characterized by increased inflammation and oxidative stress, which leads to chronic pain and functional loss in the joints. Conventional anti-arthritic drugs used to relieve pain and other arthritic symptoms often cause severe side effects.

A gel containing the inclusion complex of quercetin and β-cyclodextrin was developed in order to verify its effects, isolated or using phonophoresis, on oxidative biomarkers after skeletal muscle injury. 30 male rats were divided into one of five groups: Control (CTRL), Muscle Injury (MI), Therapeutic Pulsed Ultrasound (TPU), Therapeutic Pulsed Ultrasound plus Quercetin (TPU plus gel-QUE) or Quercetin gel (QUE). Quercetin gel was complexed with β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) using chromatography (HPLC).

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that occurs when there is a change in the mechanical and biological properties of the articular cartilage and the subchondral bone; The condition is more prevalent in women than in men. Pequi oil (PO), which is extracted from the fruits of the pequi tree (Caryocar coriaceum Wittm), is widely used in traditional medicine in the Brazilian northeast for the management of inflammation and joint pain. The aim of this study was to develop a pharmaceutical formulation containing Carbopol® hydrogel nanoencapsulated with pequi pulp fixed oil (PeONC) and evaluate its therapeutic effect on functionality and pain in women with knee osteoarthritis.
