A systematic review was conducted, focusing on the relationship between depression during pregnancy and increased risk of low birth weight. The review covered articles published in PubMed, SciELO, and ISIWEB using the key words 'depression', 'pregnancy', 'birth weight' and 'low birth weight'. Ninety-nine studies were located, but after reading the abstracts only 10 articles were selected.

This study analyzed the association between early pregnancy and negative emotional repercussions for adolescents, according to socio-demographic and psychosocial variables. The study interviewed 1,228 adolescents in maternity hospitals in the City of Rio de Janeiro. Emotional repercussions were evaluated with negative self-assessment variables, showing little or no expectation towards the future, as well as psychological distress.

This study aimed to describe the socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics of a sample of teenage mothers classified according to marital status and age group. A sample of 1,228 adolescent mothers was interviewed in the immediate post-partum, selected from public and private hospitals in the City of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The chi-square test (chi2) was used to verify the hypothesis of homogeneity of proportions.

This study characterizes the women receiving precarious prenatal care according to socio-demographic variables, mother's reproductive history, family support, satisfaction with pregnancy, and risk behavior during pregnancy. A total of 1,967 adolescents were interviewed in the immediate post-partum in public and outsourced maternity hospitals in the City of Rio de Janeiro. The dependent variable was the number of prenatal appointments (0-3; 4-6; 7 or more).
