Background: Globally, internalizing problems disproportionately affect females in adolescence and adulthood, with limited research at earlier ages due to a focus on disruptive behaviors. Our study addresses this gap by exploring the structure of internalizing problems and gender differences in Brazilian preschoolers.

Inequality on the frontline: A multi-country study on gender differences in mental health among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Healthcare workers (HCWs) were at increased risk for mental health problems during the COVID-19 pandemic, with prior data suggesting women may be particularly vulnerable. Our global mental health study aimed to examine factors associated with gender differences in psychological distress and depressive symptoms among HCWs during COVID-19. Across 22 countries in South America, Europe, Asia and Africa, 32,410 HCWs participated in the COVID-19 HEalth caRe wOrkErS (HEROES) study between March 2020 and February 2021.

Edentulism and Individual Factors of Active Aging Framework in Colombia.

Background: While edentulism remains a serious public health problem for older adults in Colombia, few analyses have been conducted from the framework of active aging as a part of the positive discourse of aging. This study analyzed complete edentulism and its relationship with determinants including personal, behavioral, and health systems and social services.

Methods: This study included a total of 19,004 older adults.

Antibiotic consumption in secondary and tertiary hospitals in Colombia: national surveillance from 2018-2020.

Objective: To assess the compliance in secondary and tertiary level hospitals with monthly reporting of antibiotic consumption to the Colombian National Public Health Surveillance System (SIVIGILA-INS), and to describe reported antibiotic consumption during 2018-2020.

Methods: This study involved a secondary analysis of antibiotic consumption data reported to SIVIGILA-INS. Frequency of hospital reporting was assessed and compared against expected reports, disaggregated by intensive care units (ICU)/non-ICU wards and geographical regions.

Changes in Quality of Sleep, Mood, and Other Neuropsychiatric Symptoms After Switching Dolutegravir/Lamivudine/Abacavir to Darunavir/Cobicistat/Emtricitabine/Tenofovir Alafenamide in a Randomized Study of People With Human Immunodeficiency Virus With Poor Sleep Quality: GESIDA 10418.

Background: Although switching antiretroviral therapy (ART) in people with human immunodeficiency virus experiencing insomnia due to dolutegravir-related neurotoxicity is well founded upon evidence, there is a lack of proof in regard to the outcome of stopping dolutegravir-based ART in people without insomnia but reporting poor sleep quality.

Methods: This is a randomized, multicenter, open-label study to evaluate the reversibility of patient-reported sleep disturbances in patients on dolutegravir/lamivudine/abacavir without insomnia after switching to darunavir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide. The participants were randomized to switch ART at baseline or at week 4 and then completed 8 weeks of darunavir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide.

Importance: Alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) is a common inpatient diagnosis managed primarily with benzodiazepines. Concerns about the adverse effects associated with benzodiazepines have spurred interest in using benzodiazepine-sparing treatments.

Objective: To evaluate changes in outcomes after implementation of a benzodiazepine-sparing AWS inpatient order set that included adjunctive therapies (eg, gabapentin, valproic acid, clonidine, and dexmedetomidine).

One of the basic assumptions of analytical dimensioning models of asphalt pavements is failure due to fatigue cracking of the bituminous layers. Furthermore, it is considered that the damaging effects of different traffic loads are linear and cumulative, per Miner's law. However, the analysis carried out on the effect of temperature, rest periods, and ageing of the bituminous materials questions considering fatigue failure as the only and main assumption for the calculation of the pavement life.

Radiographic/MR Imaging Correlation of the Wrist.

In this review article, the authors discuss the imaging features of the most common pathologic conditions of the wrist by putting the emphasis on radiographic and MR imaging correlations. A topographic approach based on the 3 functional columns of the wrist (radial, central, and ulnar) serves as a framework. The pathologic conditions are classified, based on the structures involved, as fractures, ligament injuries, arthropathies, bone abnormalities, and tendinopathies.

Association of BCG Vaccination in Childhood With Subsequent Cancer Diagnoses: A 60-Year Follow-up of a Clinical Trial.

Desepiphysiodesis and Reconstruction of the Distal Radial Growth Plate with an Autologous Iliac Crest Cartilage Graft: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Introduction: The term "desepiphysiodesis" consists of removing a partial premature epiphyseal closure due to the formation of an osseous bridge and replacing it by interpositional inert material; in spite of the experimental evidence supporting the efficacy of autologous cartilage as interposition material into resection cavity to permit the remaining growth, this option, curiously, is not found in clinical practice and literature. Indeed, surgical treatment for partial growth injury, autogenous, fat, and non-biological grafts is most frequently transplanted after physeal bar resection to prevent and/or correct angular deformities.

Case Report: This is a case report of a 10-year-old boy with an angular defect of the right distal radial growth plate which was the result of a post-traumatic lesion.

The Effectiveness of a Pharmaceutical Care Model on Adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy: A SAME-Based Cohort Study in Brazil.

To verify the effectiveness of a pharmaceutical care model developed by the Specialized Municipal Assistance Service in Sorocaba, Brazil, on adherence to ART among patients infected with HIV. A cohort study compared adherence to ART in two groups of patients: intervention group (patients assisted with pharmaceutical care, n=130) and non-intervention group (patients attended by the habitual dispensing process, n=229). Antiretroviral adherence was measured by the number of pharmacy refill records in a six-month period.

Phonomyography as a non-invasive continuous monitoring technique for muscle ischemia in an experimental model of acute compartment syndrome.

Background: In acute compartment syndrome (ACS), clinicians have difficulty diagnosing muscle ischemia provoked by increased intra-compartmental pressure in a timely and non-invasive manner. Phonomyography records the acoustic signal produced by muscle contraction. We hypothesize that alterations in muscle contraction caused by muscle ischemia can be detected with phonomyography, serving as a potential non-invasive technique in the detection of ACS.
