Prognostic Significance of C-MYC and EGFR Overexpression in Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors: An Immunohistochemical Study.

Introduction: In addition to mutations in KIT and PDGFRA, many other genetic alterations have been described in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), including amplifications of C-MYC and EGFR, which are often associated with increased protein expression. The main of this study was to investigate the prognostic significance of C-MYC and EGFR expression in GISTs using immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Methods: We collected all GIST cases over a 16-year period.

Introduction And Importance: Symptomatic ileocaecal lipomas is a fascinating disease, it represents a distinctive subtype of bowel lipomas for two main reasons: it is so rare that its exact incidence is unknown, second its clinical and radiological features are so unspecific that it remains a challenging diagnosis. In terms of treatment surgical resection is indicated when doubting malignant origin, or in case of symptomatic lipomas. Through anatomopathological findings, diagnosis can be confirmed.

Synovial sarcoma of the abdominal wall: A case report for a rare entity with a challenging treatment.

Introduction And Importance: Synovial Sarcoma is an intriguing disease, it represents a distinctive subtype of soft tissue sarcoma that does not exceed 10 % of all STS. This tumor can arise from the abdominal wall in very rare cases. Due to its unique presentation (occurring at a young age, various anatomical locations, and slow evolutionary kinetics), diagnosis can be challenging.

Idiopathic sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis is a clinical entity characterized by partial or complete encasement of the digestive tract by a fibrous membrane. The preoperative diagnosis is difficult to establish. The diagnosis of sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis should be considered for patients without any surgical history and admitted for intestinal obstruction, especially for patients having peritoneal dialysis.

A 34-year-old asymptomatic gossypiboma: A fortuitous diagnosis revealed by appendicular peritonitis: A case report.
