[Quality of life in children with obstructive sleep apnea after adenotonsillectomy].

Unlabelled: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) caused by enlarged tonsils and adenoids is common in pediatric population. The prevalence of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea syndrome has been estimated to be between 1% and 3% in preschool and school-aged children. The aim of this study was to examine quality of life in children before and after adenotonsillectomy.

[Surgical treatment of juvenile nasopharyngeal angifibroma].

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma represents non-incapsulated benign tumor. It can lead to serious problems with the extension into nearest structures. Recidivism is described in 20 to 30 % of cases, after surgical or other adjuvant therapy.

[Stents in treatment of laryngotracheal stenoses].

Endo larynges tracheal stenoses due to endo luminal or extra luminal processes of benign or malignant character in majority of cases demand the resection of a stenosed part. The use of a stent represents a necessity. In this paper we analyzed 10- year experience of the ENT Clinic of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo regarding the use of stents.

[Uncommon foreign body in the respiratory airways].

Foreign body most frequently reaches respiratory airways by act of aspiration. It could be of various origin, most dangerous is vegetables one which inlarges progressively and could obturate airways completelly. Consequences of that is problem with breathing, atelectasis, and futher on if that obstactle is of long duration bronchiectasis and abscess of pulmonum can be developed.

[Surgical treatment of thyroid gland diseases].

Thyroid gland surgery is a treatment of choice for morphological changes of the gland, although patients with some functional problems, indicated from endocrynologist, underwent surgery. The goal is to analyze retrospectively patients with thyroid gland diseases according to incidence and surgery. We analyzed surgically treated patients with thyroid gland disease at ENT clinic in Sarajevo in last 5 years.

[Rehabilitation of the patient with cerebrovascular insult with haemorrhage--case study].

This is case study of the patient, 58 years old, occupation merchant, admitted tot he neurological clinic as urgent case with the following diagnosis: insultus cerebrovascularis per haemorrhagiam, Haemathoma cerebrale reg. temporoparietalis lat. sin.

Postintubation tracheal stenosis.

Postintubation tracheal stenoses are the result of an inadequate management of intubated patient. Consequence is different grade of respiratory insufficiency that leads to certain disability of patient. Surgical method of choice is segmental resection of trachea with "end-to-end" anastomosis.

Incidence of malignant tumors of larynx and their treatment.

We retrospectively analyzed patients with larynx cancer that were treated at ENT Clinics in Sarajevo in the last 5 years. According to the tumor site, TNM classification, operative procedure and postoperative treatment we found the following: Over the last 5 years 156 patients underwent surgical treatment--143 (91,6%) male and 23 (8.4%) female.

The effects of caloric vestibular stimulation on EEGs in patients with central vertigo.

The EEGs of 30 patients with central vertigo were examined by caloric vestibular stimulation (CVS). The control group consisted of 30 persons without vertigo disturbances. In the standard procedure (and after hyperventilation), there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of patients.
