Rosai-Dorfman-Destombes (RDD) disease is also known as sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy. It is an uncommon heterogeneous disease of children and young adults. Most of the patients with RDD generally present with painless lymphadenopathy, while extranodal and multisystem manifestation of the disease is unusual.

Methods: This was a mixed-methods study among caretakers of infants who received congenital heart surgery from 2019 to 2020 in the Chicagoland area. Quantitative variables measuring sociodemographic characteristics and prenatal care utilization, and qualitative data pertaining to patient-reported barriers to prenatal diagnosis were collected from electronic health records and semi-structured phone surveys.
Background/purpose: Gastrostomy tube (GT) placement is a common pediatric procedure with high postoperative resource utilization. We aimed to determine if standardized discharge instructions (SDI) reduced healthcare utilization rates.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study comparing postoperative hospital utilization of patients who underwent initial GT placement pre- and post-SDI protocol implementation from 2014-2019.
Esophageal diseases result in significant mortality, morbidity, and health care costs worldwide. Current approaches to detect and monitor esophageal diseases have severe limitations. Advanced imaging technologies are being developed to complement current approaches to improve diagnostic, therapeutic and surveillance protocols in order to advance the field.
