Ulnar Hemimelia with Oilgodactyly: Report of Two Cases.

We present two sporadic cases of complete ulnar hemimelia, a rare congenital defect. In one case, ulnar hemimelia was associated with tridactyly and elbow malrotation with radiohumeral synostosis; in the second case, ulnar hemimelia was assciated with mono-metacarpal bidactyly and anterior cubital webbing of the elbow with fixed flexion. To the best of our knowledge, there is dearth of information on these combinations of anomalies in the literature and their management remains a challenge.

Violence in the emergency department: a multicentre survey of nurses' perceptions in Nigeria.

Background: Emergency department (ED) violence is common and widespread. ED staff receive both verbal and physical abuse, with ED nurses bearing the brunt of this violence. The violence is becoming increasingly common and lethal and many institutions are still improperly prepared to deal with it.

Background: Keloid is not a homogeneous biological entity. The exact pathologic mechanism of the lesion continues to be an enigma for physicians and researchers alike and no specific gene or sets of genes have been identified. Fulminant necrotizing fasciitis following the use of herbal concoction: a case report.

Introduction: Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare and life-threatening rapidly progressive soft tissue infection. A fulminant case could involve muscle and bone. Necrotizing fasciitis after corticosteroid therapy and intramuscular injection of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs has been reported.

Soft tissue sarcoma of the thigh: need for angiography in the developing countries.

Background: Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are relatively rare tumors that are seldom seen in many surgical practices. In the developing countries, most patients present lately to the tertiary center either because of poverty, ignorance, or poor management by the primary health workers that first come into contact with these patients.

Background: Chronic leg ulcer (CLU) is reported to have an impact on virtually all aspects of life. Treatment is expensive and has large economic burden on many countries' health services. This presentation is to determine the impact, etiology, and presentation of CLU as well as the procedures for processing in a Nigeria tertiary care facility.

Macromastia: a review of presentation and management.

Background: Macromastia is a condition of abnormal enlargement of the breast tissue in excess of the normal proportion. The condition may be caused by glandular hypertrophy, excessive fatty tissue or combination of both. The usual physiologic enlargement of female breast occurs over 3 to 5 years and the female breast size is related to body habitus and hereditary characteristics.

Giant scrotal lymphedema of unclear etiology: a case report.

Introduction: Scrotal lymphedema is common in the tropics and subtropics. The giant variants can cause a lot of physical disability and psychological disturbances.

Case Presentation: We present a 25-year-old Nigerian male with giant scrotal lymphedema with severe debilitating symptoms, immobility and emotional disturbance.

The Naso-labial and lateral forehead flaps as a single stage: A case report and review of literature.

We present here the case of a patient with a major traumatic nasal loses who had a near-total nasal reconstruction as a single-stage procedure. A 35 year-old civil servant who was involved in a road traffic injury about two years before presentation. He sustained extensive and multiple facial injuries with complete loss of nasal cover and lining.

Clinico-pathological patterns of squamous cell carcinoma in Nigeria.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is the commonest single gene autosomal dominant disorder, and its diagnosis is usually composed of a set of clinical criteria. Few cases of traumatic loses of the external genitalia have been reported in this part of the world. In a developing country like ours, grinding machines are commonly being used by the people for domestic purposes. Children in their mid fifteens are usually employed to man and operate the machine without proper training and apprenticeship.
