Objectives: In order to find the optimal inactivation conditions for Clostridium chauvoei culture, different factors were investigated and the immunogenicity of inactivated cultures was studied.
Methods: C. chauvoei was cultured with different formalin percentages (0.
Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases with worldwide health threatening. Antimicrobial resistant strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) are a common cause of UTI which were identified as a treatment challenge.

The presences of parabens in infant formulas raise concerns due to their potential to disrupt endocrine function in infants and cause reproductive toxicities.
Methods: In this study a new method was developed for extraction and determination of methylparaben in infant formulas using HPLC method and UV detector.
Background: Transmission of antimicrobial resistant and virulent Escherichia coli (E. coli) from animal to human has been considered as a public health concern. This study aimed to determine the phylogenetic background and prevalence of diarrheagenic E.

Intravitreal anti-VEGF is useful in the management of ROP patients, especially for aggressive posterior ROP. However, ocular and systemic complication after intravitreal bevacizumab was the main concern.

As milk and milk-based products are consumed by many people, novel analytical procedures are needed to detect these adulterants.

In this work, metabolite profiling was performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify and quantify animal fat (lard) adulteration in vegetable oil (olive oil). Principal component analysis could correctly identify and clustering olive oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil, lard, and adulterated samples through the changes in their fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) profile.

Each year, more than 70,000 new cases of cancer and 30,000 deaths from cancer have been recorded in Iran. Cancer also reduces quality of life (QoL) by creating negative physical and mental symptoms.

The formulation of the prepared vinylpyrrolidone-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate monolithic polymer was optimized and the satisfactory quality of prepared coated stir bar was demonstrated. In this work, the prepared stir bar was utilized in combination with ultrasound-assisted liquid desorption, followed by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection for the simultaneous determination of losartan (LOS) and valsartan (VAS) in human plasma samples.

We aimed to describe the epidemiology, clinical features and outcomes of Australian children and adults with CAPS.
Methods: Patients were identified and clinical data collected through a questionnaire sent during 2012-2013 to clinicians reporting to the Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit and subscribing to the Australasian Societies for Allergy/Immunology, Rheumatology and Dermatology.

In this study a novel method is described for selective quantization of domperidone in biological matrices applying molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs) as a sample clean up procedure using high performance liquid chromatography coupled with a fluorescence detector. MIPs were synthesized with chloroform as the porogen, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the crosslinker, methacrylic acid as the monomer, and domperidone as the template molecule. The new imprinted polymer was used as a molecular sorbent for separation of domperidone from serum.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA poly acrylate-ethylene glycol (PA-EG) thin film is introduced for the first time as a novel polar sorbent for sorptive extraction method coupled directly to solid-state spectrofluorimetry without the necessity of a desorption step. The structure, polarity, fluorescence property and extraction performance of the developed thin film were investigated systematically. Carvedilol was used as the model analyte to evaluate the proposed method.

The lysosomal storage disorders are a collection of progressive, multisystem disorders that frequently present in childhood. Their timely diagnosis is paramount as they are becoming increasingly treatable. Musculoskeletal manifestations often occur early in the disease course, hence are useful as diagnostics clues.

Methods: We compiled clinical, genetic and serological data from a total of 26 patients from 18 pedigrees, all with biallelic ACP5 mutations.
A new monolithic coating based on vinylpyrrolidone-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate polymer was introduced for stir bar sorptive extraction. The polymerization step was performed using different contents of monomer, cross-linker and porogenic solvent, and the best formulation was selected. The quality of the prepared vinylpyrrolidone-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate stir bars was satisfactory, demonstrating good repeatability within batch (relative standard deviation < 3.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA sensitive, selective and simple method for the simultaneous determination of carvedilol enantiomers in aqueous solution has been developed using stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) followed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection. This method is based on the reaction of carvedilol enantiomers with (-)-menthyl chloroformate (MCF) after extraction by the SBSE method to produce diastereomeric derivatives. The separation was achieved by use of a C18 analytical column and the influence of mobile phase composition on the enantioseparation of carvedilol was studied.

Study Design: Newly diagnosed cases of pSLE were ascertained prospectively from October 2009 to October 2011 through the Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit (a national monthly surveillance scheme for notification of childhood rare diseases) as well as national subspecialty groups. Questionnaires were sent to notifying physicians at presentation and at one year.
This standards document outlines accepted standards of management for children, adolescents and young adults with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in Australia. This document acknowledges that the chronic inflammatory arthritis conditions (JIA) in childhood are different diseases from inflammatory arthritis in adults and that specific expertise is required in the care of children with arthritis.
